Windows 10: Share Ideas and Engage with Team Xbox Using the Xbox Idea Hub

A few weeks ago, we previewed the Xbox Idea Hub to select members of the Xbox community. Now that we’ve had some time to work out the kinks, we’re ready to hear from you! If you’re someone with ideas about how gaming on Windows 10 and Xbox One could be made even better by introducing new features or enhancing existing ones, make sure to stop by the Xbox Idea Hub today.

For those unfamiliar with our Xbox Ideas concept, the Xbox Idea Hub will be home to a variety Idea Drives. These limited-time drives are organized around a specific theme or topic put forth by a member of Team Xbox looking to gain a better perspective on what the community wants. Each Idea Drive will allow all Xbox fans to contribute their ideas, collaborate and discuss with others about a specific vision, and vote for the ideas they think are the best.

In addition to broadening our understanding of how you use Xbox products, services and features, we hope this new location will allow for more opportunities for discussion between Xbox fans and Team Xbox. That’s part of the reason we’re testing the waters and housing this location on the previously established Xbox Insider subreddit. After all, many of the members of Team Xbox already spend a lot of time reading through your comments and ideas in the subreddit, as well as other community locations relevant to their features, such as /r/xboxone, @XboxInsider, @Xbox and more.

I’m not an Xbox Insider. Does this mean I can’t participate in Xbox Idea Drives? We welcome responses from any member of the Xbox or gaming community who feels they have a great idea relevant to an existing Idea Drive. Whether you’re a current or former Xbox Insider, or even someone who hasn’t heard of our program, we highly encourage you to get involved!

I have an idea I’d like to share, but I’m not interested in interacting with others. Is that OK? For sure! We want to afford anyone who would like to engage with other Xbox fans or even Xbox Feature PMs and engineers the option, but it’s not a requirement. Please use this space as you see fit or check out our Xbox Insider Program for more ways to provide feedback to Team Xbox.

I noticed an Idea Drive I’m interested in is marked “Closed.” What does this mean? Idea Drives are meant to have a distinct start and end. The feature team in charge of a “Closed” Idea Drive has ended the collection period and is now reviewing your submissions and planning their upcoming work based on the community’s ideas and feedback.

I’m not interested in any of the currently available Idea Drives. What should I do? If you have ideas related to features that don’t currently have their own Idea Drive, please share them on a weekly Xbox Requests thread.

Hopefully we’ve covered any early questions you might have about engaging with the Xbox Idea Hub. For now, we’d suggest you check out the space for yourself! Here are some helpful tips for getting started:

Visit an Idea Drive post that you’re interested in on the Xbox Idea Hub.

If you have an idea related to that Idea Drive, share it by posting a comment. Don’t forget to comment on other posts to help build on community-driven ideas.

Once you’ve posted an idea (or even if you didn’t!), upvote any comments that you really agree with – this will allow us a better view of the top ideas in an Idea Drive at that time.

Check back often while the Idea Drive is open to continue upvoting new ideas and to see what other Idea Drives will be offered in this new space.

Xbox Ideas Update: Start Voting for your Favorite Ideas

Hello again, Xbox Insiders! I’m back to talk about the next phase of Xbox Ideas. You might recall last month when I introduced the concept of Idea Drives as part of the new Xbox Ideas. If you’re not familiar, head to last month’s post to read more about Xbox Ideas.

When we launched Xbox Ideas, we included three Idea Drives, all of which asked you to submit your own suggestions and ideas for our feature teams to review. And you did! We received thousands of suggestions, comments, and votes on each Idea Drive, and have carefully chosen the best ideas to represent you in each Idea Drive forum. Here are the three Drives currently active:

Xbox Insider Program – The Xbox Insider Program allows passionate Xbox fans the opportunity to give us feedback on the latest Xbox One System Updates, as well as features and games still in development on both the Xbox One console and Windows 10 PCs. Join the Xbox Insider Program and help make work-in-progress content and features coming to Xbox even better. Then tell us how we can improve it!

Ease of Access – The Ease of Access team is looking for new hardware and software suggestions that will make it easier for people with disabilities to enjoy the Xbox console and services. We’re eager to learn more from you and to share that information as a team. We look forward to receiving and exploring your feature requests via Xbox Ideas. Let’s build a more inclusive Xbox together!

My Games and Apps – My Games and Apps is where you manage your content, including downloaded games, games you have purchased but haven’t downloaded, and your subscriptions. You can also update your games within My Games and Apps, filter and sort, view download progress, and manage your download queue.

The Next Phase of an Idea Drive

Idea Drives will often start in the Accepting Ideas phase, where anyone can submit an idea. After this phase, the voting phase begins. This is your opportunity to vote and comment on a fixed list of ideas that will be used to help our feature teams prioritize their next set of features for Xbox.

This week, both My Games and Apps and the Xbox Insider Program Idea Drives are moving to the voting phase! Soon, Ease of Access will be shifting phases as well. And our next Idea Drive will be announced very soon! We look forward to hearing from you at xboxideas.uservoice.com. Remember, Xbox Ideas are driven by you!

New Idea Drives Just for You: Designed for Xbox and PC Game Bar

Greetings, Xbox Insiders! We’ve just launched a new pair of idea drives and are looking for your participation and input to help Team Xbox. If this is your first time hearing about Xbox Ideas, then you should know that Idea Drives are focused on a specific area and contain three different phases (Collection, Voting and Results). The information we gather from Idea Drives is then shared with various teams across Xbox!

We’re very excited about these new Idea Drives and can’t wait to see what ideas you have brewing.

Designed for Xbox

From fight sticks to racing wheels, network adapters to headsets, there is a wide variety of accessories available for the Xbox One and Windows 10 devices, but is there something that you think is missing? Some peripheral that you think would make your gaming experience that much better? Here’s your chance to contribute and let Team Xbox know what’s missing, what you would like to see, and perhaps even a brand or manufacturer you’d like to see partner with Team Xbox on creating licensed hardware.

Some of the user suggestions so far include:

“Support the use of a USB WiFi Adapter on the console”

PC Game Bar

Do you like to record your gameplay on Windows 10 and share it with your friends? How about creating highlight reels or compilation videos? What kind of features would you like easy access to while playing a game? Team Xbox is looking for your contributions on how you would like to use Game Bar in Windows 10 right before, during, and after finishing a gaming session.

Take some time to explore the current Game Bar by pressing Win + G while playing a game on PC, then swing by the Idea Drive with your thoughts and feedback. A few examples of existing user ideas include:

Now Access Xbox Insider Blog and Xbox Feedback from Xbox Insider Hub

You can now access the Xbox Insider Blog and Xbox Feedback from the Xbox Insider Hub!

Look for new announcements at the top of the Announcements section in the Xbox Insider Hub redirecting to the Xbox Insider Blog or Xbox Feedback.

The Xbox Insider Blog has all the latest news on the Xbox Insider Program including system update release notes, information about game playtests, and content featuring game studios and members of the Xbox Insider community.

Check out our February interview with Robocraft Infinity developers Freejam for some cool insights on the game’s development and inspirations.

Xbox Feedback is the best place to request new features or suggest improvements for Xbox. The feature teams working on Xbox One, Xbox on Windows, Xbox mobile apps, and Xbox Live regularly review the ideas you submit, incorporating them into their work to make your Xbox experience even better.

You can also vote for your favorite Xbox 360 titles to become playable on Xbox One via Xbox One Backward Compatibility!
