  1. shared computer is not showing in file explorer

    Hi,

    I am trying to set up a file sharing system between two windows 10 computers,

    one is a desktop and the other is a laptop.

    I have partially succeeded because the laptop can see the desktop and itself in 'network' in file explorer however, the desktop cannot view the laptop most of the time.

    Sometimes it appears irregularly but most of the time, the desktop does not 'see' the laptop.

    Pinging the devices works and also I have tried the following on both computers:

    SMB Protocol Turned on

    The following services are on:

    Computer Browser Service

    Function Discovery Provider Host

    Function Discovery Resource Publication

    Network Connections

    Peer Name Resolution Protocol

    Peer Network Grouping

    Peer Networking Identity Manager

    SSDP Discovery

    UPnP Device Host

    The two computers are connected to router by wifi and I have enabled NETBIOS over TCP/IP in the wifi settings - IPv4 properties

    Also all the discovery settings in advanced sharing settings are turned on.

    Help will be much appreciated because having only one computer accessing the other is not very useful.

    Thanks.

    :)

    Windows 7 File Sharing between computers, PROBLEMS!!

    Just do a file transfer in explorer from one computer to the other and see what speed you get. I would suggest avoiding homegroup and using a proper network setup instead.

    Computers not showing in File Explorer

    After updating four Windows 10 systems on a private LAN to the April 2018 Creators Update, each of their File Explorers now shows a different set of computers as being on the LAN. One system correctly lists all four computers, and I can therefore access
    all network shared folders/files from it. Two of the systems only list themselves (and therefore one can't get to other shared folders/files). And the fourth system lists only one of the other systems (& not itself).

    So, how can I get each system to correctly list all the others (so that all shared folders/files can be accessed everywhere)? On one of the systems, I have tried the following without success:

    Ran Windows Network Diagnostic;

    Checked that Network Discovery is on;

    Reinstalled network driver;

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh int ip reset

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

    Started Function Discovery Resource Publication Service (it was off, afterwards that system itself showed up as network computer)

    Enabled SMB 1.0 (wasn't)

    Performed a "Network Reset"

    Created "give access to..." shared folders on one system giving Everyone & other individual system Users access rights (thinking that maybe a system is only visible on the network if an shareable object exists on it)

    I'm at wits end...help, please!
