    Shared Folder - Network Sharing keeps dropping out


    Hi. I am running a Windows 10 OS. My question is, why is it that I have to always restart my PC in order for my Shared Folder to be able to be accessed by other PCs? When other PCs can't connect to my shared folder, I have to restart it and then they'll be to connect to it. But I tend to repeat this process again a couple of hours later. Why do I always have to restart my computer for my shared folder to be accessible?

    Network share keeps dropping

    When Microsoft made changes to networking and removed Homegroup from Windows 1803 and that caused some problems.

    To get you PC's to visible under File Explorer network section then most important part is to start some required services, but you have to check all network settings.

    Push Win Key and type "Services", locate those services, start them and set
    Start type to Automatic.

    Services are:

    - Function Discovery Provider Host

    - Function Discovery Resource Publication

    - SSDP Discovery

    - UPnP Device Host

    Look more detail from my example with screenshots how to
    make PC's to show in File Explorer network section, change network profile and setup file/folder shares.

    For this "Shares keep dropping" see step 6.

    Sharing folders over network - access denied

    Hello,

    To troubleshoot your concern with sharing files over the network using your Windows 10 device, we suggest that you run the Shared folders troubleshooter and check if it helps. Kindly refer to the steps below:

    • Type in Troubleshooting in the search box and press
      Enter.
    • Click View all.
    • Click Shared Folders.
    • Click Next and follow on-screen instructions.

    Network share keeps dropping

    Hi

    I have 2 Pc's A&B with network share setup on the A .

    So i can see all the shared folders On pc B

    But after a while the network share drops then i have to restart the pc then it works again. Sometimes theres no activity then after few hours i try to use it then the neterin share is gone .

    Use for network share is accounting program which the datafile is stored on pc A and used on Pc A & B .

    Ive added windows credentials network path but still no fix.

    Can anyone Please advise urgently .

    Both pc's core i5 windows 10 all up to date with drivers etc .
