Windows 10: Shared Folder on External Drive No Longer Shared

I shared a folder on external drive.

I also have a shared folder on the PC that the external drive is connected to.


Twice now I've gone to access the shared folder on the external drive, and it wouldn't connect. So then I would access the PC in question via "\\MyPCName", and the shared folder on the system drive would show up, but not the folder that resides on the external drive.


So then I pull up the PC in question and go to the shared folder on the external drive. I open the folder properties and go to the "Sharing" tab, and there plain as day, the folder is no longer shared. I am the only one that has access to the PC in question. I know I am not dropping the shared folder, so it must be Microsoft that is doing it.


I just rebooted the PC and rechecked the shared folder and it's currently shared.


What could be causing it to drop the share? What can I do to prevent the drop?

Referring to following link, I would like to know on how to stop sharing folder for windows 10.

I cannot find Stop Sharing option on step 5.

Use these steps to stop sharing any folder on Windows 10:

1. Open Start.
   
2. Search for Computer Management and click the top result to open the experience.
   
3. Expand the Shared Folders branch from the left pane.
   
4. Click the Shares item.
   
5. Right-click the folder that you no longer want to share and the Stop Sharing option.
   

Furthermore, ADMIN$ is found to be Remote Admin under computer management.

There is no option to stop it as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop sharing and remote?

cannot open files on network shared drive

Is the remote shared folder mapped? Do you have a drive letter assigned to it?
I'd suggest calling the software developer and asking them.

  Select Sharing Tab.

  Click on Advanced Sharing.
  
• 
  Uncheck “Share this folder”.
