    Hello everyone, I'm trying to fix a problem I'm having on Windows Server 2012 R2. After performing some system updates, every printer shared via RDP no longer works correctly because I receive this message: Handle is invalid.Via Event Viewer I get this:"The print spooler failed to reopen an existing printer connection because it could not read the configuration information from the registry key S-1-5-21-1528231074-3849690144-2975117709-1013<1>Printers\Connections.     The printer handle is invalid error when Connecting to a printer shared from a 2012Server

    Hi Team,

    We have installed 5 Toshiba printers (STD TCP Port) with the latest toshiba printer drivers on a win 2012 Server and shared them.

    When we try to connect them from the client, on some clients it displays the error the Printer handle is invalid.

    We tried to test by installing a HP Universal Printer and Sharing it. This also resulted in the same error.

    We have a mix of Client OS, Win 7 , win 8, win 8.1 and win 10.

    Need assistance in resolving the issue.

    The Handle is invalid when adding Microsoft Print to PDF

    Hi Anne,

    Thanks for following it up.

    The issue is Microsoft Print to PDF is no longer listed in
    Devices and Printers and Device Manager. And so far attempts to add it back resulted in the error message
    "Unable to install printer. The Handle is invalid" or
    "Printer driver was not installed. Element not found".

    Read my previous posts from beginning to understand the various steps I have tried.

    The error message is no help to me - I don't understand what it means and cannot take any corrective action.

    the handle is invalid HELP!


    I'm going through the same thing right now. i tried to go in and come in on safe mode but it still would give me the same error. Now it will take my password, start to log in and bring up my main screen but it blip then goes back to the sign in page where i put my password in it would give that 'invalid handle" message.
