  1. SharePoint 2013 - unable to open previous versions of Word documents on Windows 10

Unfortunately when I try to open earlier versions of a document from "version history" in SharePoint 2013 I consistently get an error message advising me that I can't open it.

    e.g.

SharePoint 2013 - unable to open previous versions of Word documents on Windows 10 4a9e8f6b-e48c-4cb1-8337-1acf4480b8ab?upload=true.png

When I click on the link that would previously have loaded up a specific version of the document into the Word client NOW I consistently get a message similar to the one below.

This had been working on our systems until approx April 2019 but has not worked since then.

the issue appears to be related to the build of Windows 10. Is this a known issue and if so is there any plan to fix this.

    :)

  3. Cannot open Word document sharepoint 2010

    Dear All,

    Hello,

I am facing a problem after upgrading to windows 10, IE cannot open word document using SharePoint 2010 page, a pop up message displaying: "Word Web App encountered an expected error Restart or Exit"

so I cannot open the file in Microsoft Word, even Edit in browser.

using edge the file is opened but cannot edit in browser, when I click open in word a massage Display "To open this document, your computer must running a version of Microsoft word and a browser that supports opening files directly from office web Apps"

and asking to install silver light and it is already installed.

Note that other Files Excel, PowerPoint work properly with no problem, only the Word document.

I am using Windows 10 64 bit and office 2013 professional plus.

I think it is a silver light problem, I uninstall it and install Silverlight 3.0.40723 on the IE the problem was solved, still facing edge problem

hope in the coming updates the problem solved.

    or any other Solution?

  4. SharePoint 2013 - unable to open previous versions of Word documents on Windows 10

Outlook 2013 opens Word attachments in Word 2013 despite Word 2010 being preferred version - Windows 10 suspected as cause

Thank you for the response. I will continue following that thread.

I have not posted in the Word forum because I have no problem using Word. The problem arises from the interactions of Outlook 2013, Windows 10, and multiple versions of Word. When Outlook is not involved (i.e. the Word document is an attachment to an email),
or when Windows 10 is not involved, there is no problem. Documents and templates both use Word 2010. When Outlook 2013 is involved on Windows 10, attachments open in Word 2013.

I speculated that Outlook may be treating the attachment as an OLE object.
