Windows 10: Sharing a WIFI mobile hotspot connection via ethernet

I have a desktop computer which runs Windows Vista that does not have WIFI capability. Where it is setup I am unable to connect it to a network via ethernet. Initially, my thought was to use a USB WIFI adaptor which would allow me to use my WIFI hotspot however I am unable to find one that will run on Vista readily available. My next idea is to connect it to a laptop which has WIFI capability via ethernet. I have both a Windows 10 preferred or 11 laptop that I can use. I do have a switch that I could use if needed as well and a USB to Ethernet adapter that I can connect into the laptop.Thank

Windows mobile hotspot feature wont share connection via ethernet

Hello, this is my first post so I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but as described in the title, I can not share my internet connection via ethernet from my windows 10 pc when using the windows mobile hotspot feature. The reason I want to share my internet connection from my pc via ethernet connection instead of through my wifi is that my computer is far from the router and I would like a stronger internet signal for my phone when I'm near my computer. However, when choosing where to share my internet connection from, ethernet is not an option, and the name of my wifi is my only option.

(Information that I am not sure is relevant)
Additionally, I am able to connect my phone to my hotspot when choosing wifi, but at first I did have an issue where my phone could not obtain an IP address. I fixed this by going into network connections -> properties of wifi -> sharing -> and checked to allow other users to connect to my internet connection through Local Area Connection* 10. After doing this, my mobile hotspot worked and my phone could connect to my computer, albeit at a decent wifi speed. However, when attempting to do the same thing with my ethernet, for some reason my Local Area Connection* 10 does not appear, and the icon itself disappears from network connections when my wifi is turned off and when my computer is connected just through ethernet.

Anyways I'm not sure if anyone will read this, or even be able to help, but any tips or advice you have will be much appreciated! Also feel free to ask for more information/attatchments or email me.

 

Error "The wifi network .... didn't respond" when using PC as mobile hotspot

Original title:- Use my PC as a mobile hotspot

When my PC has a cellular data connection, I want to turn it into a mobile hotspot to share my connection with other devices.

To do this I follow these steps.

• 
  Select the Start button, then select Settings > Network & Internet
  > Mobile hotspot.
  
• 
  Select Edit, enter a new network name and password, and then select
  Save.
  
• 
  Turn on the control under Mobile hotspot to share your cellular data connection.
  

After that I enter my Password to my nokia lumia 925 phone and try to connect to my new wifi network.

But it says "The wifi network .... didn't respond"

• I enter my password correctly.
• Turn of my wifi in pc
  

 

Mobile Hotspot - No Internet Connection

I tried the first two methods the link recommended.

In the case of the first method, I couldn't get past step 1.8 (Selecting 802.11 or whatever) as there wasn't any item on the list that had anything near that name.

The second way didn't work either. I followed all the given steps up until step 2.8, at which point the drop down menu I had had no "WLAN" option. The "Wifi" option resulted in the issue not being corrected at all (my phone still says there's no internet
connection) and selecting "Ethernet" resulted in the computer telling me there was no way to set up a mobile hotspot at all as I wasn't connected to Wifi or Ethernet.
