Windows 10: Sharing a WiFi printer

I think the answer may be no ... but thought I'd ask you guys who know more than me.

I have an ISP provided Personal broadband and this has a WifFi modem and combined Router.
It is a BT HomeHub5

I have an HP all-in-one printer connected by WiFi to this router and I have a number of devices that connect to router via ethernet or Wifi and they print OK.

My employer paid to install a 2nd Broadband service to my house (Business broadband) this is also provided on a BT HomeHub5.

I have now moved my business Laptop off the personal network onto the business network (physical ethernet connection) ....and it can no longer communicate with the printer ... (ping test confirms it can't see it)

Is there an easy way to connect up this printer so it can be used by devices on both networks ?

I don't want to have to install a 2nd printer ... and emailing all items to print between devices is a pain.
All PC's that print to the printer are W10 64 bit.

Ideally I would cancel my personal broadband - and then have only 1 router - but BT want £200 to cancel contract.

Will not recognize shared printer.

WIFI printer is left in state where the second machine to print to will not print until rebooted.

 

Apparently you may be able to connect to the printer without it being connected to either network. See if yours supports Wi-Fi Direct.

It only supports older 'WiFi ad hoc' .... which would mean disconnecting PC from Internet each time I wanted to print.

 

Try adding a local printer, then select create new port and manually input IP address of a printer.

Other thing comes to mind.. If your printer have ethernet connection and Wifi, you can connect each to its own network (not sure if this will work)

 

I did ask HP if I could cable one & WiFi other ... they said no.

I'll try the manual addition tomorrow.

 

IF the printer has a USB port then yes, you could connect the business laptop directly to the printer via the USB port and all other users could still use the WIFI portion of the printer. Hope this helps.

Been away with work ..... just tried it this morning - yes it does, surprised HP support did not suggest this.

Here's the deal about HP support, they will only tell you what the book says...and lucky for us, the printer can not read the book! Mark this one solved so others will know what to do. Glad to have helped.
