Windows 10: Sharing Internet from laptop to other devices.

I've got a laptop that connects to my network via WiFi. On the laptop I run a VPN client to a remote location.

Is there anyway I can use my laptop as a default gateway so all wired and wireless devices use the laptop to route traffic, the aim being all traffic routes via the VPN and not directly out via the router.

It is broadcast by Bluetooth, not WiFi. Other PC's that have not previously provided the password can not see this when your internet sharing is turned off. With internet sharing on the phone turned off and your laptop has previously connected to the
phones internet sharing they will see this WiFi name. If you select this source on the laptop the phone automatically turns on internet sharing to allow the connection.

Because you changed the internet sharing password on the phone it was seen as a new connection by the PC that had not been setup with the new password so the WiFi name was not visible. Turn on internet sharing and connect the laptop with the new password,
then disconnect the laptop. In a few minutes the phone internet sharing will turn off. Then you will see the WiFi from the phone as available again on the PC.

This feature was added to the OS with the OS update that came with Cyan.

This is a Windows 8.1 feature, it syncs your devices with your Microsoft Account, and if they ever pair on bluetooth, it will appear as a wireless network, for seamless internet sharing instead of going through setting up a hotspot.

 

Bit of further information.
Currently my devices connect via the BT HomeHub5 either wirelessly or using the LAN ports.

 

On the start button, search for hotspot. Click on Change mobile hotspot settings.
