    Sharing network connection

    Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone is having issues with sharing their internet connection with other devices after a recent update to Windows 10. After installing KB3176936 and KB3176934, I am unable to share my network. My current setup has my laptop connected to the home Wi-Fi and then sharing that Wi-Fi connection through the ethernet port on my laptop to my Raspberry Pi 2. Before the update, I was able to set my home network as public and network sharing would still work. Now I need to change it to Private first before the network can be shared. The issue I have with this though is that it creates a network from my laptop named "DIRECT-WR[computer name here]" which I don't want to show up in network lists. Anyway to set my network to private without creating that other network? Or to share it without setting my Wi-Fi connection as private? Thanks.

    :)

  2. How to pass network folder through internet connection sharing?

I am trying to give a desktop that is connected through internet connection sharing , access to a Network folder that is on my netgear router. I went to the settings for the internet sharing and attempted to add the network folder to it , the network folder
is //fileshare on my network , and the desktop on the internet connection sharing will still not access the folder. It seems that the internet connection sharing is put on a separate network?

Launch File Explorer on the Taskbar and click Network. You should see the other computer(s) appear in Network Explorer. If not, you’ll get prompted to Turn on network discovery and file sharing. Depending on the type of network connection, click the appropriate
option. Press F5 on your keyboard or the refresh button in the Address bar for the window to populate with available computers and resources. If you are unable to connect to a computer on a network, ensure appropriate sharing settings are enabled. To do that,
right-click your Network connection in the Notification Area and click Open Network and Sharing Center. Click Change advanced sharing setting. Make sure to enable these settings for each of the following: Private – Turn on network discovery (check Turn on
automatic setup of network connected network devices) Turn on file and printer sharing Allow Windows to manage homegroup connections Guest or Public – Turn on network discovery Turn on file and printer sharing All Networks – Turn on password protected sharing
Once these are enabled, try browsing again.

If you are going through the Raspberry Pi as a proxy, that would be a issue. Especially if you are using wifi with the Pi. Are you over on the Raspberry Pi forums? If not, you can post this on there regarding which Linux OS. See this about the various Linux commands. You may have to install some of the commands if your distro did not already install. The command varies if you are using a Redhat based or Debian based Linux distro. http://www.tldp.org/LDP/intro-linux/...ect_10_02.html This gives you everything that you need to know about the Wifi side side of the Pi if you have a wifi adapter installed. 8 Linux Commands: To Find Out Wireless Network Speed, Signal Strength And Other Information

Also keep in mind that if Power Management = On, there is a way to disable that feature.

It's more like I'm using my laptop as a proxy for the Pi. So the connection would be home Wi-Fi -> laptop -> Pi. If I have the home Wi-Fi set as public (on the laptop) the Pi doesn't receive a connection from the laptop, but if I set it as private I get a new Wi-Fi SSID broadcasting which didn't happen before.

Regardless, doing a Proxy either in Windows or on the Pi is going to cause problems. What exactly are you using the Pi2 for?
