  1. Sharing the same application with multiple users.

My team is using generic account where in multiple people test applications. The testing is automated and runs long hours.Team member A runs the test in morning shift on a PC. Team member B in afternoon logs in generic account on the same PC and check the test running and provides the result.I am looking if Team member A runs the test then it should be with his own ID not generic.Team member B should be able to check the status and provide the result with his own ID.I am able to share the folders and files on public desktop but not able to continue the sessions. Are there any ways to configure

    :)

  2. Applications shared across the device - Will only launch for one user,

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

It sounds like you're encountering issues with applications not launching or working properly for a new Windows user account that you've created, even though the applications are installed in a shared folder on the device. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

    1. Permissions and Ownership: Ensure that the new user account has the necessary permissions to access and execute the applications. Check both the folder where the applications are installed and the individual application executable files.
      • Right-click on the shared folder containing the applications and go to "Properties."
      • In the "Security" tab, make sure the new user account has the appropriate permissions (Read and Execute, at least).
      • Apply these permissions to all child objects within the folder.
    2. Application Compatibility: Some applications might require administrative privileges to run. Try right-clicking on the application executable and selecting "Run as administrator" to see if it launches successfully.
    3. User Profile Corruption: If the new user account is experiencing issues across multiple applications, there might be a profile corruption issue. Try creating another test user account to see if the problem persists there.
    4. Install Locations: Some applications might store user-specific settings or data in the user's profile folder. If the applications are installed outside of the individual user profiles, certain settings might not work correctly for a new user.
    5. Verify Application Installations: Double-check that the applications are properly installed on the device for all users. If the installation process wasn't completed successfully for the new user, the applications might not work as expected.
    6. Check for User-Specific Settings: Some applications might store user-specific settings or configurations that are located within the user's profile folder. These settings might not transfer to a new user account.
    7. Local vs. Microsoft Account: Check if the original user is using a local account while the new user is using a Microsoft account (Family 365 account). Differences in account type can sometimes affect app behavior.
    8. Software Support: If the issue persists, you might consider contacting the software provider's support (like EA Support for the EA app) for assistance. They might have insights into user-specific compatibility issues.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

  3. Installing Applications to Select User Accounts

    Hi Lucas,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are trying to avoid the access of all the application in all users. We will help you try resolving this issue.

I suggest you to check while installing any software it gives an option to install on all users or any particular user only.

However this would be application specific to manufacturer.

You can try following the below steps also and check if it helps.

    • When you install the software or an application, it makes a shortcut or copy to the public folder where all the users can access the application.
    • Open C:\ Drive and select Users.
    • Select Public, select the files which you don't want to be used by other users and delete the files or Cut and paste in Admin account folder.
Note: To perform this steps be logged into Admin user.

Keep us posted to help you better.

    Cannot access shared network drive

I could scream! so much time wasted on this stupid error, as if time is not precious enough!
It probably would work fine if I could see the other computer! But I cannot see the other computer!
