  1. Sharing W10 files and folders with a W7 laptop

I have an upto date W10 desktop which can see and work with files on a W7 laptop. The W7 laptop can see the desktop under the Network but when I try to access it, I am asked for a username and password to connect to the desktop. However I do not have a password for the desktop, only a PIN.How can I connect the W7 laptop so it can see files on the W10 desktop?many thanks Chris

    :)

  2. W7 access of W10 share

On my home network W10 systems can access shares on other W10 systems, and W10 can access W7 shares. However, when W7 tries to access a W10 share, it wants a network password. I give it the user/pswd I use to log in on the W10 but that doesn't help.

    I found one place:
    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/cannot-access-shared-folder-windows
that suggested setting HKLM...Lsa\restrictanonymous to 1
but that didn't seem to help.

    TIA!

  3. How do I share files/folders between W10 and W7 Home Premium

Sorry for being slow to reply but I have been away for 2 days. I do appreciate your help.

I have done all the sharing routines on both computers.

I have a homegroup and a password on the Desktop which I shared with the Asus (W7).

I cannot find a way of establishing a homegroup on the new Laptop (W10). The information seems to say that W10 does not support homegroups.

I had all 3 of the SMB boxes ticked on the W10 but have now set it at the client version only. The W7 Desktop does not show SMB File sharing Support at all. Should it be there? It is a HP TouchSmart.

With the changes (after a reboot) I still cannot get access. In Explorer on the W7 I can see the Laptop AND the Desktop under the Network folder but when I try to access the Laptop on the Desktop I am denied. On the Laptop W10 I can see Graham (touchsmart)
under THIS PC but nothing shows and under the Network Folder I now only have the Laptop showing.

Superhelp required. It was never this difficult with W7

  4. Sharing W10 files and folders with a W7 laptop

How do I share files/folders between W10 and W7 Home Premium

I had an Asus laptop which shared everything with my Desktop (both on W7 Home Premium) - no problems setting up or using. I replaced the Asus with a W10 laptop and I have gone through the sharing process on both machines. When I try the access the W7 from
W10 I get a message saying I do not have permission. Similarly W10 from W7. HELP
