Windows 10: Shavian characters appearing as crossed boxes in older windows

I'm using Windows 11 with the Japanese system language, and want to display some Shavian letters on window titles and contents. However, they appear as crossed out boxes, in window titles:and in window contents:The Windows 11 Settings app can display the text just fine, using the Segoe UI Historic font:However, I've installed a third-party font that has better kerning and weight variations, called Inter Alia.I would like to set the Inter Alia font up so that displaying older Windows applications will fall back to Inter Alia if Yu Gothic UI doesn't contain the Shavian glyphs. How could this be

Shavian block characters displaying as boxes on desktop

I have a windows 10 PC, and I'm having a problem which I had in the past: files that I name with characters from the Shavian unicode block (U+10450..U+1047F) are displaying only as boxes on the desktop. As a Shavian hobbyist, it would be helpful to be able to use Shavian for filenames and so on.

I know that the Shavian characters are found in Segoe UI Historic, which is a font found in Windows 10 by default. In fact, sometime in the past I followed a guide to get it displaying correctly which involved adding some values in the registry which, I believe, added a backup font (Segoe ″ ″) to load any characters that the default from couldn't.

However, a few months ago I'd done a clean install, and I can't find anything like that guide. (I know, I shouldn't have been messing with the registry when I didn't understand what I was doing in the first place.) I was wondering if anyone could help me out in getting these characters to display on my desktop once again. They display in-browser, and also in Discord and some other apps, but just not in Explorer.

 

When I get a drpdown list to insert a character, I click on a charater but it does mot appear in the box.

Cheap Photo box that will get the job done

WEll i took on this project for PP hes a hardware reviewer and wants to get the professional looking pics for the Pc parts

Materials:

• Big cardboard box

• a razor

• white material 3 yards

• cone lights

• stapler

• medical tape

• pvc pipe about 6 inches longer than your box

• white paint any cheap finger paint would work

the project I'm guessing will cost me $30 if it works out properly
