Windows 10: Shell Folders Incorrect After Attempt to Move From C to D

I tried to move data from C to D drive. I used the folder Properties method. Disaster. I reversed the location back to C. Now two Shell Folders are incorrect. “My Music” contains a duplicate of all files/folders in “My Documents”. This resulted in My Documents being in both of folders. How do I get My Documents to store only documents and My Music to store only music? C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

 

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

Pictures folder unavailable in D drive

If you moved the C:\Users\Your User Name\Pictures folder to D and then upgraded, the upgrade likely set it back to the default on C at the above location. The pictures that were in it may still be on D, with just the default Shell User Pictures folder moved back to C default location.

If the Pictures folder is not in either location now, here is how to locate it to restore it to default location on C, or move it again to D:

Again the pictures themselves should still be on D as restoring the default user folder location doesn't move the pictures in it, just the folder itself.
