Windows 10: Shell Prompt

So this has been driving me absolutely nuts the past week. After a random amount of time has passed this dark blue command prompt pops up for a millisecond and kicks me out of fullscreen applications and briefly restricts my controls when I'm in a window because this this thing has priority due to being the most recently opened application and it goes away too fast for me to read so all I catch is C:Windows 64 Shell prompt or something like that. Apparently its incredibly obscure and theres not a single spot on the internet that says how to fix it. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF HOLY BABY JESUS HELP.

Power shell to Command prompt in windows creators update

Yes Microsoft in their wisdom are phasing out Command Prompt in favour of Powershell . . .

Here are the steps to add that option back to the Context Menu in Windows File Explorer:

• Make sure you can see files extensions - In File Explorer, on the View Tab, check the box 'File Name Extensions'
• Close File Explorer if it is open
• Right click a black space on your Desktop, choose New - Text Document
• Copy the text below into it
• Save the file and give it a meaningful name
• Change the file extension from .txt to .reg
• Right click the file and choose 'Merge'
• Confirm the merge when asked
• That's it, you're done, 'Open Command Prompt Here' will be back on your Shift + Right click menu in File Explorer!

Installation media boots to command prompt

I've just booted from known working install media to see exactly what it does when booting. The sequence of events is...

1. Windows logo on a black screen
2. circling dots appear beneath the logo
3. light blue 'Please wait' screen with circling dots
4. a command prompt window (very briefly)
5. the initial Setup page appears

Do you see steps 1-3? If so, it appears you have stopped at step 4, suggesting that something on the disc cannot be read.

Does the disc boot properly in another machine? If so, try cleaning the laptop's drive lens then try booting from the disc again.

If not, make new install media with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, either as a bootable USB, on an ISO that you can burn to another disc. At Step 8 in Option One of this tutorial you can choose between making a USB or an ISO.

After win 10 upgrade wifi won't connect. Says windows socket entries missing.

I suggest you to reset the Winsock and TCP/IP stack and check if it helps.

Method 1: Follow the steps given below to reset Winsock.

    Press Windows key + X, select Command Prompt (Admin)

    Type “netsh winsock reset” in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.

    Restart the computer.
    

Method 2: Follow the steps given below to reset TCP/IP stack.

    Type “netsh int ip reset reset.log hit” in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
