  2. Do I need Shock Wave Flash object

Must I keep the Shock Wave Flash Object? If I don't, I could disable it in my add-ons. Since it is not an actual program there is nothing to uninstall right?

What is it for and is it necessary?

  4. Shock Wave Flash

Do I need Shock Wave Flash object

    Hi,

It depends on the websites that you visit and how they have been programmed..... some old gaming websites like pongo still use Flash (and older versions of Flash from Macromedia) and will not work at all if Flash versions are removed/uninstalled from your
    computer.

IE11 already has ActiveX filtering. (Tools>ActiveX Filtering) which will block flash from being used on websites you visit.

Please c ActiveX Filtering for Consumers

for info on how to use the built-in ActiveX filtering in IE, which will help you to manage which websites you allow Flash to run on.

You can also disable your FLash installation(s) (there are a number of them) from the Tools>Manage Addons>Show all addons...

which GLOBALLY stops websites from using flash....

If you don't know what Flash is.... then probably it is best to leave it enabled in your Manage Addons lists.. and use the built-in ActiveX filtering in IE to manage which websites you allow it to run on, as other software that installed on your computer
(desktop applications) may also need flash to work properly).

Eventually support for flash will be removed from operating systems like windows desktop/tablets and suface windows (already removed from windows mobile and apple products), but it is up to website owners to make the transition and to replace it with supported
    technologies on their websites.

If you are using your computer at work or at an education portal, contact your system/IT administrators for a discussion on their requirements for using their networks.

    Regards.
