Windows 10: shortcut close down and restart windows

Discus and support shortcut close down and restart windows in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; in windows 7 and 8 I could place a shortcut on my desktop to either closedown or restart my PC which I found on the Windows 8 site. will this still...     in windows 7 and 8 I could place a shortcut on my desktop to either closedown or restart my PC which I found on the Windows 8 site. will this still work on windows 10?

    alt f4 not working in windows 10

    The shortcut alt f4 to close a window or a program is not working anymore since I upgraded to windows 10.

    This means I have to close every single program or window manually going to the upper right corner.

    Is there a new different shortcut I can use to close a window with the keyboard? (I've tried pretty much all the combinations already)

    Not being able to do so slows down greatly all my general use of the pc.

    Windows 10 not restarting or shut down properly when using start button

    When I try to restart of shutdown system from START button on task bar, it does nothing. If I have applications open on the desktop the start menu just closes closes and returns to whatever was open on the desktop. I have closed all application and have
    just the desktop and attempt to restart and shutdown and nothing. Returns to my desktop. when shut down or restart using Alt+F4 it happen properly and also there is difference between screen saver when using start button or when using shortcut. also my
    updates get stuck and installation has failed, it keep on reminding me to restart but restart does not help at all.

    Any suggestions?

    You're welcome.. I use this for a sleep timer shutdown:
