    Should I increase Page File To Make Win 10 Faster?


    I have an old Lenovo G575 running Win 10 64 bit, 4Gbt Ram, 1GHz AMD C-50 Processor, 500Gbt HDD. Its a very slow machine and I am trying to get the best performance out of it. The HDD is about 25% full and I have defragmented.

    Should I let windows manage the page file or should I set it manually to 1.5x my ram minimum value and 4x Ram maximum value. There seem to be different views about this. Your advice would be appreciated.

    Page File

    Set minimum and maximum to a constant number as suggested by others, that will help reduce fragmentation on the drive coz of different page file sizing.

    Page file on faster SSD

    I have 8GB ram with a 120GB Sata 3 SSD and several hard disk drives. Windows 10 is installed on the SSD. The page file is managed by Windows.

    I've added a faster 256GB PCIe 3.0 SSD. I'm mainly using this new drive for data, but should I tell Windows to put the page file on the faster SSD?

    I would never turn off your page file. Ever. EVER! I put my page file on a separate partition in the middle of the HD, so it is about 2% faster! If you have to mess with your page file, do what I did.
