Should I Keep Device w/ Bitlocker On or Off?

A couple days ago I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Model 7591. My first experience with Dell. And I just now discovered that the device is running with Bitlocker engaged. I've never had any of my machines encrypted since I've owned them since 1995. I've always thought it could be problematic in certain situations and I'm not concerned with the machine falling into the wrong hands. I started the decryption process and then thought of asking you all if it was just as well not running day to day with Bitlocker on rather than off or what. Thanks!

    :)
