Should I revert from Windows Creators

Before I had Windows Creators, my games were running really well. After creators I suffer a performance loss until I reverted back to Nvidia Drivers 378.92. The performance was good again, but Windows CU decides to automatically update me to the latest Nvidia drivers 382.05 and then my performance is crap again.

So I uninstall 382.05 and go back to 378.92 and disable automatic driver updates, but somehow after sometime it seems 382.05 keeps getting installed back again! This is annoying me and I am blaming Windows Creators for it.

Can anyone tell me if this Windows CU is actually suppose to better and patched up yet, or should I seriously consider going back to Windows 10?

    :)

  3. Windows 10 opens all programs after restart/resign in (I don't like it)

Hi! After the new creators fall update, my laptop suddenly opened every window, every chrome tab I ever had open whenever I restarted/signed into my computer only after this new creators fall update. Is there a way to turn this off? Or should I just revert
back to the old version of 10 and forget about it?

You can disable driver updates if you wish. Tutorials in the Tutorials section. But not an ideal solution.

You can also hide specific updates.
In Windows 10, your PC or device is always kept up to date with the latest features and fixes. Updates are installed automatically, with no need to select which updates are needed or not needed. In rare cases, a specific driver or update might temporarily cause issues with your device, and in this case you will need a way to prevent the problematic driver or update from reinstalling automatically the next time Windows Updates are installed.

I'm also getting performance drop in terms of gameplay stability in Rocket League. I didnt remember getting so many stuttering (0.5-2 sec) during a gameplay. it was usually a smooth ride hitting the ball. I would also like to follow this post development in order to overcome the performance hiccups.

I had a similar issue with this auto update for my Nvidia Graphics Card, same version. Very annoying feature.
I thought Microsoft is in the United States; whatever happened to Quality Assurance?

Is Microsoft in the United States? The name Microsoft sounds American...

Took me forever to figure this garbage out. Hopefully your computer saved the old drivers.
Go to Device Manager > Display adapters > Right click on your NVIDIA card > Properties. Under the Driver tab, press the Roll Back Driver button. Hopefully you can press that.

Worst case scenario: Assuming you cannot press that button, uninstall the driver completely off the computer. Restart the computer. Let's Windows auto detect the driver and install it once it restarts. (Mine showed that it was good quality version), then it auto updated to crap version. So I rolled back driver from there.

    Hope this helped.

(Also on the other hand, is NVIDIA in the United States? Is Quality Assurance a bunch of BS that people made up and made millions of legitimate sounding articles on the internet about it?)

Note that you lose disk space after an upgrade with the creation of Windows.old etc - which should be automatically deleted after 10 days (I suppose it's still 10 days...). Check you have plenty of free disk space on C:

    - major build releases now seem always to have teething problems for some (if not most or even all); QA relies on feedback and monitoring amongst other things; here the feedback comes first from Insiders, then from the early roll-out of the RTM build. We are MS's test bed. You have noted the Feedback app, haven't you?

Thus MS releases patches after the first RTM build release- I reckon it's better to jump on the bandwagon later than earlier, else if you want to try it out, create a disk image of the older build so you have a further way of reverting beyond and in addition to the 10 days you have to roll back.

    - I guess you mean to the Anniversary Update (build 1607)? They are both Win 10.

If you have a lot of issues with CU, you can always roll back to AU, that's what I did.

Other remedy is using the tool from microsoft to hide the driver update, then you can let Windows update do it's thing without worriying about faulty updates...

So is Creators a neccassary update, like can we stick with non-creators W10 and have it update automatically, or at some point are we expected to accept creators as an update?

Just wanted to know, because I wouldn't mind going back to non-creators, too many issues with it atm.

I don't know if you have Home or Pro.

Pro has an option to defer feature updates. In the Anniversary edition, that means some months before you get the build upgrade.
With Home, you can only disable updates to stop that, as you don't know when it will be offered.

In any event, there will be a date after which you get no updates for a given build.

There is another upgrade coming this Autumn.

I have Pro before Creators. But I have accidentally deleted the backup and windows.old files etc.

I would have to clean install W10. But not sure if creators is suppose to be compulsary for updates, stability etc.

I am running Crreator's Update and am not seeing any frame drop. Which games specifically are you experiencing this problem with.

Whenever a major update is released, I tend to do a clean format install which often mitigates problems caused by an upgrade.
