Windows 10: show desktop / peek button way too small

    show desktop / peek button way too small


    On my W10 desktop PC, the show desktop peek button to the far right side of the taskbar has gotten so small and hidden so that I can barely see it and can hardly position the mouse pointer on it to make it function reliably. It used to be just fine and I am not sure when it got reduced - maybe when that notifications button was added - not sure. Anyway, is there a way to enlarge the button to the size it used to be? Trying to re-size it by using the mouse does not work. I have not set any Themes other than what W10 itself or subsequent Windows Updates may have done. Running 21H2.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting your query.



    Let’s turn off the Peek option and check. Follow the below step.


    • Right click on the Windows task bar and click on Properties.

    • Uncheck the option Use Peek to preview the desktop when you move your mouse to the Sow desktop button at the end of the taskbar.

    • Now click on Apply and click on
      OK.

    Peek at desktop functionality

    I can't use peek at desktop unless I'm using a maximized window. I used to be able to peek at the desktop with multiple windows open, but this is no longer the case. The button doesn't even show up when I have side to side windows. Is there a way to bring
    back the old functionality?

    Windows 10: Disable Show/Peek at Desktop

    Sorry if I don't have the technical expertise to succinctly describe this issue. Every time I minimize a program to go to my desktop, I find that a layer of shade covers the entire desktop so that and I'm unable to click on any icons and unable to right-click.
    I take this as being the "Peek at desktop" status. I have to go to the far right my task bar and click the little sliver to enable my desktop, or as Windows calls it - "Show desktop." Is there any way to permanently disable the "Peek at desktop" status or
    to set the "Show desktop" status as the default when programs are closed or minimized?
