The last option in the only thread above is of the 3 line, is what seems best, without any side effects but I am not sure what to do to get there- I am not a coder and thus GitHub did not make sense for me.

I just wonder why does MS make showing day of the week nonstop on the taskbar so difficult and challenging- MS Please resolve - providing feedback is like getting onto a bicycle to get to the moon- wonder if this feature already exists but we cannot find the kb article which describes how to and there should be a kb article for something so basic. Please do not qualify my observations as some negative implications.

The taskbar shows the short date format which does not have the option for the Day without using your keyboard - is there some REAL non-coding way to do this?

Ah, I see what you're doing now. You are actually changing the short date format to be the same as the long date format. That's not possible through the Settings app - perhaps for good reason

You could try a single 'd' for the numeric day bit. That supresses the leading zero, but still shows double-digit dates. You may see 'Wednesdays' for the early part of the month, at least.
