Windows 10: Show more options on context menu is laggy and does not always show

Hello Fellow Disgruntled Windows 11 Users!Sometimes seemingly randomly, the "Show more options" menu item doesn't show in the context menu.It's bad enough that I now have to hunt for the option I need in a separate menu, but worse that I can't always get to it!Also this feature would make sense if the items that are used the most appeared in that list - like a smart menu.Not a fan of the icons representing copy, paste etc. either - takes longer to think about what each icon means now and they're not obvious enough to make that decision quickly. Memory muscle issue I suppose, after 25 years o

Context Menu - Open With (Windows Suggested List)

OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 22H2
Diagram 'A' shows Windows' suggested programs
Diagram 'B' shows the extended list

I have been trying to edit the context menu's "Open with" list of Windows' suggested programs for the .mp3 extension.
I'm not talking about the extended list, but rather the programs that first appear 'before' the "choose another app" option.
If you look at Diagram 'A' you will see the preliminary list generated by Windows, this is the list I am looking to modify.
I have an .mp3 editor named Goldwave that I use for editing audio files, however, I do not want to change the preliminary program Windows uses to open .mp3s. My .mp3s should remain assigned to Winamp Player.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Program not showing up in 'Open With' context menu

I tried this a few months ago and failed after a lot of tweaking in the regedit. Probably this guide Remove Programs from Open with Context Menu in Windows and some other where it said how to add. I gave up.

Now I have a new computer with a fresh Windows 10, and is at it again. But this time I got surprised, as everything was already as it should in regedit. It was squeaky clean in regedit with only the three apps I wanted to show up in the menu.

The problem: It doesn't show up. Not in the "Right Click > Context Menu > Open With"-list.
But (and here's the interesting part and perhaps why no-one seems to have succeeded adding to the list with the regedit method) it does show up in the open button under the Home ribbon-menu on top.

MPC-HC, VLC, and DeoVR are all there.


Context menu (I've uninstalled Windows Media Player and Microsoft Photos):

It's quite confusing, as it looks like they are identical, like both menus are taking information from the same sources. With both having the store-link and the choose another app option. When WMP and photos was installed they came up on both menus as well. It's almost like it's a bug in Windows 10.


Do you have any clue how to fix this?


On Windows 10 Home 20H2 (OS Build 19042.630), but I just updated, plus had the same issue on another PC about 2 months ago with another version.

 

Windows 11 context Menu Desktop right Click

Hi, the link that you have sent to me will restore the context menu of win10.

even if i follow the steps(HOW TO ADD AND CUSTOMIZE THE RIGHT-CLICK MENU) without executing the step of restoring win10 context menu, the notePad will be displayed in the group Show more options.

In my case i want to keep the context menu of win11, just i want to add items to the menu not in the group Show more options.
