    Show off your internet speed!

Last week, I noticed that my internet bill was going up faster than my internet speed. So I called up my ISP to ask if there's something that can be done about it. I asked for any promo that they have where I can save some $. The guy on the other line said "Nothing we can do. That's the way it is!".
So, I asked him to cut me off and I will find another ISP. He then transferred me to the "Cancellation Department". Turns out. Cancellation Dept. is another name for "Customer Recovery Dept."

    Blah-blah-blah...

At the end, I told them that I will only stay with them if they can give me an upgrade option with reasonable monthly rate. My old speed was 25 MBps Download and 2 MBps Upload.
Then I was upgraded to the 3rd higher service level (60 MBps Down, 10 MBps Up) and transferred my service to a newer technology called Hybrid Fibre. But that's not the best part. The best part is that I am paying $30 less than my previous SLOW package.

    Presenting... my new internet speed....

    Download Speeds

    Actually ... no.

First, there's no such thing as a "network status adapter."

Second, the Properties card shows the speed of your LAN, not your internet download speed, which is determined by your ISP.

  3. Windows 10 task manager network utilization issue

    Hi Lulian,

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

You need to check with your internet service provider about how to check Internet speed or you can go to any Search engine and type Speed test. Then try to run the speed test, it will show the Download and Upload Speed.

Network tab in Task Manager shows the % of utilization by a program.

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If the issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.

That's exactly the same speeds I have right now. It's just that my actual speed is always higher (download speed that is) than the specified speed. Even with my previous speed of 25MBps, I always get between 40 & 50MBps.

Ours is not the best speed, but I am just happy I got better speeds that is cheaper than my previous one. *Smile

Is it the specified speed on your internet service package?

  10. The specified speed is upto 2 meg

During the day it is usually between 1.5 and about 2.1
During the evening it is usually 0.4 to about 0.8 (this sucks)

Good news is that private companies are working to get a lot of places onto fibre (ISP's don't care about upgrading in rural areas), so this time next year should be on a min of 20

Ok. I just asked because I thought you're just having issues with your router. When I upgraded my service, I wasn't getting the specified 10MBps upload speed. It only goes up to 2MBps. I called my ISP and they don't know what to say. So I opened up my router's configuration page and there, the QoS (quality of service) feature was set to 1.9MBps. After changing it to 25MBps setting, problem solved. My upload speed is now what it's supposed to be.

When I got my upgrade to 50Mps I had to get the latest router from Comcast or I would have not received the higher speeds. Good thing was the new router did cost anything to upgrade to it.

Yeah. Same here. Every speed upgrade requires a gateway (modem/router device) upgrade. My ISP delivered the new gateway to my door. We just made a switch. The guy gave me the new one and I gave him the old one.

I actually asked them to disable the router on the gateway because I want to use my own router. That way I don't have to do any setup. Just plug and play. That's it.
