Windows 10: Show taskbar labels for ALL items?

Hi! I want to show taskbar labels for everything - even if it's not open. I know how to do it for open applications, but it kinda defeats the point for me as the constant shifting of thing will ruin any possible muscle memory.



Basically reason is - have a wide monitor now, and it's nice having the 'small icons' selected to free up vertical space, but they are very small now. If I could have it showing labels on everything all the time it'd be amazing.

You may try the steps listed below and check if it works:

• Right click a blank area on the taskbar and choose
  Taskbar Settings.
  
• Under Combine Taskbar Buttons, choose
  Always, hide labels.
  
• Exit Settings.

Is there an easy way to place an image or text label on the taskbar?

My monitor is shared between PC's with a KVM switch. I'd like to show a label on the taskbar to indicate which is connected.

I've tried creating an image and dragging it to the taskbar, but it just shows the icon for an app to display the image.

Any suggestions?

 

How to make taskbar labels wider?

I always have labels showing in my taskbar so I can see exactly what I have open with the titles of each spreadsheet for example listed in my taskbar rather than hidden behind an icon.

However it is frustrating how narrow the labels are because the titles are always cut off. This is more of a problem when document have log prefix's.

Does anyone know if this can be edited at all? I know that it can't be edited just using settings.
