Windows 10: showing me the error while opening the drive containing my important documents and asking...

i dont wanna format the drive "s" , if i did so then i will definitely lost all of my data for sure!!

CD drive error

1) Close all open programs
2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter
3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

UpperFilters
LowerFilters
UpperFilters.bak
LowerFilters.bak
5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
6) After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor
7) Reboot your computer
8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

And it likely has something to do with the emulated drive you have listed there.

 

Documents folder contains other important folders and isn't supported for file backup issue

Your second screenshot shows that Pictures is selected in Folder Protection to back up to OneDrive.

I'm not sure what was done that have caused the error on Desktop and Documents, possibly moving their location before removing the from Folder Protection. There are some suggestions about the cause of this error here:

Make sure Documents and Desktop folders are in their correct locations by the methods here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/23504-resto...

Then make sure no folders inside either folder are being redirected from elsewhere. Did you move s shell User folder into Documents folder? These will be identified by the shell User icon (document, download arrow, picture, music note) on the folder itself and a Location Tab on the Properties box, where it is moved or restored to default location.

Report back results for each step so I know what else to suggest.

Documents showing in recent when not opened

Dear MS Agent Tomm_A,

With all due respect, please can I ask you to try to understand the issue submitted by the original poster.

The two solutions you have offered do not address the actual problem.

We are not asking who is making changes to these documents, we are asking if they are being opened by unauthorised people.

If the list of 'Recent' opened files in File Explorer is indicating that docs have been accessed (not modified) by unknown people then that is the concern.

Your suggestion of trying to find out who last made changes to a document will not reveal who is simply opening and viewing these documents.

May I politely request that this issue is escalated so that we can get a definitive answer that homes in on the issue.

My hunch is that this phenomenon my have something to do with OneDrive. Perhaps some kind of automatic syncing of random documents to OneDrive registers those documents as recently accessed?

I hope someone at MS can come back with a simple and reliable explanation so that our minds can be put at rest.
