Windows 10: ShowKeyPlus

I've got a new key too, but it shows as a W10 Pro Insider Preview.

 

Clean install from an ISO?

 

Sorry, no, I wanted to try the upgrade and see how it went. I may do a clean install later, after I've had a chance to evaluate if all the issues I had are resolved or not.

 

I see what your saying, Mine shows Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview for Product Name in Showkey. If I take the key shown as installed key and type it into the Check Product key option, it shows as Windows 10 Pre-release Professional Retail. I missed the pre-release part, must have got distracted by seeing the Retail part listed. Sorry for the confusion. The Retail listing surprised me as it was an upgrade from an OEM install.

Just curious, what did you originally upgrade from? Windows 7 or 8.1, OEM or Retail?

 

10240 not showing pre-release license anything

 

I clean installed on an empty HDD - no upgrade at all; started with 9926 (I think).

 

OK, I would expect a clean install to be Retail.

 

No watermark, no reference to it being a Pre-Release on the system page. slmgr /dlv shows no Evaluation end date and Windows 10 Professional? Mine looks to be full Retail.

surprising as have since bought and used Win 8.1 for years
can't activate with the installed key in the photo
though i used this key when 1st installed the ISO today

lol .. went to microsoft insider forum asked about this was told
we haven't released 10240 ISO yet
I think he's calling me a pirate *Mad

 

the preview activation server has been shut down...
The reason for this is they are testing the roll out

 

It's due to a clean install... the free upgrade must be done on an existing genuine Win7/8 installation first - Your Device ID then gets registered with a store licence and subsequent installations (with the generic key as per your illustration) will be automatically activated.

Use WDT to confirm ... clicking the validation code will show it's a store licence.

right now guess what ?
have reinstalled win8.1 + all updates
now there's not a win10 Pro ISO 10240 out there to d/l
as they've all reached their limit .. hahaha
I can't get one ..
if i do find one I'll make a disc and reboot
and ONLY install if setup says something like
"we have detected you have an existing operating system 8.1
would you like to upgrade "
