Shutdown takes 30 minutes and boot is normal, what is causing it ?

So as the title says, when i want to shutdown or restart my pc it stays on "shutdown" screen for well 30 minutes, i need some help figuring out what causes it.
I thought of reinstalling windows but i guess since booting is fine that i don't need to do that. I use laptop mostly for work and i don't have bunch of things installed, any help is appreciated. Thanks

    :)

  2. Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver issue

    Hello,

I have a problem with intel rapid storage technology driver. It is causing the following issues on my Windows 10 laptop:

    - When booting after shutdown/hibernation, the pc would freeze for 5 minutes on the spinning dots with the manufacturer logo screen, and then boot normally

( This issue does not happen after restart )

    - When I shutdown/hibernate, it takes my laptop 5 to 10 minutes to shutdown/hibernate

I am sure intel rapid storage technology is causing these issues because after uninstalling the driver, these issues were gone.

However, uninstalling the IRST driver caused my hard disk to malfunction and I was forced to reinstall IRST driver.

I have also tried updating the driver, and even downgrading, and also installing the driver version given by my manufacturer, but I still faced these issues with all the versions of the driver.

    Any suggestions ?

How to disable this hibernate boot feature?

What Hibernate Boot? Are you shutting down the computer properly? If the computer is in Hibernation when you want to shutdown, wake it up by briefly pressing the power button. That is not a boot process, just a deep sleep that takes a few extra seconds
to wake. Then shutdown normally. It will boot normally next startup. You can also disable Hibernation in Power Options, Additional Power Settings.

Use the Event Viewer to give you an idea of a process doing this, by right clicking the Start Menu select it go to Custom Views folder then Administrative Events, look at column in the middle to identify Shutdown issues. Left click to read General and Details. Can also check the Task Manager process tab look down at all the background processes before Windows Processes .

I tried this. I stopped everything that i recognized. I also tried deleting some stuff i don't need. Still the same thing.
I did some googling before i asked here and everything pointed to event viewer. I can't find anything there. I have 4 events related to shutdown and i will attach ss here.

First one i see is hdserv.exe hidserv.exe Windows process - What is it? this is a Human Interface Device Service used for by either keyboards, USB Audio Devices, game controllers and other USB peripherals. Could be a driver related issue with these devices.

Second one is related to The Program Compatibility Assistant Service (PcaSvc) service monitors programs that are being installed for compatibility problems and helps fix any it finds.May point to a process from an application not shutting down properly causing slow shutdown, maybe needs to be reinstalled.

Not sure about the SmsRouter service. What changes if any were made when this started happening, installed programs, drivers or hardware ?

Shutdown takes 30 minutes and boot is normal, what is causing it ?

I only have wireless mouse connected to this laptop. Can you tell me how can i check what is wrong with PcaSvc ?

As for changes, i don't really know when that started happening. I haven't change anything on my laptop since i got it. And i know it worked just fine couple months ago. The weird thing, everything else works fine. Booting is ok-ish and while turned on, it works pretty nice.

I restarted it one more time today, this time i got rtkAudio Service , Superfetch Service Host (SysMain) and Windows Font Cache Service (FontCache).

Program Compatibility Assistant will come up when installing a program that may have compatibility issues, you also can run programs that are older in compatibility mode. All system drivers been updated from Dell's site when you ( i assume) upgraded this older Laptop to Windows 10 ? rtkAudio Service is Realtek part of your Sound Device's driver on this Laptop.

Originally said 30 min. to shutdown that is extreme, but how long to boot ? How did you do your upgrade to Win 10 ?

The upgrade was done when Win 10 came out, i used that Microsoft Win10 invitation thing and yes, i used dell detect something to install all drivers. The boot is 2-3 minutes long usually.
You can see on last screenshoot that shutdown duration is around 1800 seconds which is around 30minutes. I never experienced that, it was always the boot.

I uninstalled some stuff on my laptop, disabled startup for most of things and only thing i got is better responce time when doin stuff, but shutdown/restart time stayed the same.

Going to ask how many startup items in startup tab in Task Manager you have and to disable ones not needed. Can not find exact system specs on this Laptop's model just see you have an Intel i3.

Try running System file checker plus DISM.
Right click Start Menu and select Command Prompt (admin)

    Type sfc /scannow
Let it finish, then can copy past this into it next.
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
let it finish, then reboot. Let me know if any integrity violations in SFC or DISM operation went o.k..

See if any corruption in operating system files.
Backups of original Dell OEM ? Media (disc or ISO) made for Windows 10 ?
