If the guide had been posted a bit sooner I would have been able to keep the single drive on the second desktop split between the original 7 Pro install with 10 on the second primary. But I simply had tossed a clean install of 10 on the fresh primary to confirm what I already prior to the Genuine Ticket guide that explains how to go about using the 7 or 8 activation status without the need to upgrade to rule out simply skipping past the upgrade which is no longer necessary to see 10 activated! Back in the 9x days before getting into the custom building stages first running an old "boat anchor" IBM following the 286 and 386 machines I was using while training in electronics having gone back to school after the Tool&Die, CNC work slumped I had everything premade as you would say but tweaked 95 and 98SE on the same partition let alone same drive on a 486 machine. Later when getting into building my own the time came for the 98SE/XP dual boot across drives.

You would think that would work being in the startup options and not after 10 loads to the desktop. But it will still easier to simply press and hold the power button each time to power down completely. *Sad

That's another idea to go for there! But now I have to wonder is the shutdown.exe file corrupted or missing? That could easily explain the constant restart problem if the file was in need of being replaced and why I had suggested running the SFC tool earlier.

Another thought if the Start menu is pooched as seen with a laptop's upgrade to 10 here I ran into then another option is found when right clicking on the Start button and scrolling all the way down to the "Shutdown and sign out" option which has the three options seen there while the power option on the Start lacks! If the Start menu is having a problem you may only be getting the restart option there to work even when selecting the shutdown item!

That's one urk about going from 7 to 10 and no longer seeing the four options and ability to set Restart, Log off, or Sleep as the default on the shutdown button. But everything now is geared towards touchscreen for both desktop and tablet alike.
