Windows 10: Side audio keys not working on my Dell Inspiron 5379 2-in-1Windows 10

My Dell Inspiron 5379 2-in-1 2017 model has a dedicated power and volume control buttons on the side. While the power button is working, the volume control buttons are not. I can still control the volume using the keyboard or mouse, but the side keys are very convenient while in tablet mode. I have tried the following solutions without success:Uninstalling and reinstalling the audio and audio control drivers.Updating related drivers from dells website and using Dell SupportAssist.Updating all recommended drivers. Running Windows audio troubleshooter.Installing IntelR Chipset Device Softwar

Please open this page to check if this is the Surface Pen you're referring. If
it is, it shows a list of devices in the Tech Specs compatibility section. It doesn't say that it works with Dell. May we know where you saw the information that it works? From what you stated with the steps you did in the attempt to troubleshoot the issue,
this is a hardware compatibility issue. We suggest that you return the pen and exchange it with a pen/stylus that will work with your Dell laptop. Please check further with Dell Support for pens/stylus that will work on your device.

Audio problem on Dell computer

@Stu - thanks for the detailed steps. I followed these last night and audio worked perfectly on my Samsung HDTV monitor. However, this morning audio is gone again, and performing the same steps again (even though the settings were already correct) doesn't
restore audio.

The only audio options that work for me after the upgrade to Windows 10 are: (1) headphones in the analog audio jack, or (2) external speakers connected to the rear panel. Sound from the connected monitor are not really working.

I'm so confused as to who is actually controlling the audio - there are:

• DELL Audio drivers for the Inspiron PC
• Intel Audio drivers
• Realtek Audio drivers
• Microsoft Audio drivers (?)

No wonder there's a problem...seems to me they are fighting for control of the audio device!
