Cannot connect to browser Because Side by Side EVENT source is incorrect. How do I fix this problem?

I have a problem connecting to a browser. The error message said it was because the side by side event source was incorrect. Actually it said the Event Log Online Help can't display. The default browser failed to start because side by side Event log
is incorrect. See event log or use Command line sxstrace,exe. Didn't work, any suggestions?
