SidebySide Error ID33 with Cyberlink PowerDVD 16

When I check the Event Viewer, I find there's a SidebySide Error message at least once a day. It says:
"Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files (x86)\cyberlink\powerdvd16\kernel\dms\CLMSMediaInfoPDVD16.exe". Dependent Assembly CLMSMediaInfo.X,type="win32",version="1.0.0.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis."

I contacted Cyberlink, who said to delete Microsoft Visual C++ 2012, completely uninstall PowerDVD, & then do a clean reinstall. I did this, but still get the error daily.

    I have the following installed:

How can I make sure that I have the latest uncorrupted C++ packages?
    Thank you in advance,

    :)

Windows 10 deleted my PowerDVD software NOT HAPPY!!!!!!

Most likely your previous version of PowerDVD was not compatible with Windows 10 Anniversary build.

If you have registered with Cyberlink PowerDVD contact them to update to the later PowerDvd version 16.

Thank you, Irene. I had already tried uninstalling Cyberlink, deleting the C++ 2012, & reinstalling Cyberlink. However, I still get the error.

I'm not sure if this thread will help; however, if correct, it looks like you may need one or more of these earlier Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages:

    http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/pos...24.page#137203

Note: The thread download links are for an x64 system.

Comment: You can have multiple versions installed at the same time. I think I have all of them installed.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks WOT. I think I will try that, but I have a couple of questions first. Cyberlink had me uninstall my C++ 2012 Redistributable & it was reinstalled by Cyberlink.
    1. Do you think it's possible that the one included with the Cyberlink install is corrupt & that deleting & replacing it with one directly from Microsoft will fix the issue?
    2. The thread that you referred me to is from 2012, so the links are to C++ 2005, 2008, 2010. Will installing these (which I don't have) cause any problems?

You see, the error message that I see in the Event Viewer occurs several times a day, usually early in the morning when I'm not even at the computer. And the Cyberlink PowerDVD program does work without a problem. If I didn't look in the Event Viewer, I wouldn't even know there's an error. I guess I'm wondering whether my attempts at a cure may be worse than ignoring it. What do you think?

    phrab,
I would try re-installing the C++ 2012 both x86 and x64 first and see if it fixes the issue. As WOT said, having all of them installed is not going to hurt anything. I have 2008 thru 2015 installed, as different programs I have use different versions of C++.

    Note: Reboot after installing.

    Eagle 51:
Thank you again for your response. Ok. I installed every C++ redistributable from 2005 to 2015, both x86 & 64-bit versions, and I did reboot. Still get the error, although the program works fine.

I notice that I have 2 MS Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86) versions installed. I seem to recall one of them being an update. One says 11.060610 & one says 11.061030. When I look in the Control Panel >Programs & Features, the later one doesn't have a size listed, so I'm wondering if it just updated the other one. Do you have 2 (x86) versions for 2012? If so, what builds?
    Thanks,

    phrab,
    I don't have two C++ 2012 (x86) vers, but I do have two C++ 2013 vers (x86 & x64) , so that's not uncommon. It's probably just a bug in PowerDVD 16 .... long as it's working properly, I wouldn't worry to much about it.

The only other thing I can think of is running ... sfc /scannow and see if it finds anything.

    Here's my list .. fyi

    phrab,
I don't know if this will be of any help, but if you would like to try the sxstrace the error references and see what details it gives. The following will create two files on your desktop (mysxstrace.log & mysxstrace.txt). Open the mysxstrace.txt in NotePad to see the details sxstrace produces.

    1. Open Command Prompt as Admin
    2. Type the following command & press enter:
    sxstrace trace -logfile:%userprofile%\desktop\mysxstrace.log
    3. Start the PowerDVD 16 program normally
    4. Once PowerDVD 16 is up and running, then back in Command Prompt ... Press Enter to Stop the sxstrace
    5. Type the following command & press enter:
    sxstrace parse -logfile:%userprofile%\desktop\mysxstrace.log -outfile:%userprofile%\desktop\mysxstrace.txt

    Thanks again, Eagle 51:
I ran the systrace in administrator command mode. The first file showed primarily what looks like "y" with 2 dots over it. A few other characters at some point & the word Cyberlink. The second file was empty.

Cyberlink DVD opened, ran, & closed without any problem. And when I checked the Event Log, there were no new entries...strange.

Well, I appreciate your time & help. Since it doesn't appear critical, I think I'll stop worrying about it.*Confused
