Windows 10: SigmaTel sound card on Gateway laptop

I upgraded to Win10. The built in soundcard, that functioned fine under Win 7 will no longer work. What is puzzling is in Device Manager it shows the driver installed and the device 'working properly'. Yet, when I go to audio devices it states there is no audio device installed. And in order to check if I had the right drivers I installed SiSoft Sandra and it doesn't find a sound card either.

It's a Gateway model MT6451, which Gateway no longer supports.

sound issues with update to windows 10

I have the same issues on a Gateway laptop MT6451. Gateway hasn't updated the drivers since Vista. It did work on Win 7. Two issues, the Sigmatel software won't install

and despite Device Manager showing the drive is installed and the most up to date, the sound manager indicates I have NO devices installed. And I don't even have the
Multimedia Class Scheduler listed in my running services.

I have a Dell D620 and had the same problem with the sound card (Sigmatel). It stopped working after I installed the latest PC Suite 682_rel_22_0. When I unnistalled it, the sound card started working normally.
