Windows 10: Sign in button does not work

I've just done a number of updates over the last few days after not having used my computer for a few months. When I reach my log in screen that is an administrator account and linked to my hotmail account the "sign in" text does not have an box over top of it. When I click on it nothing happens and I am booted back to the welcome screen. I have booted in safe mode, run sfc/scannow, and a variety of other things. I am able to get into my computer via a local administrator account but there is literally nothing I can do to log into my existing account. My computer is obviously working fine as

  in the search box and press Enter to help you identify.
• Have you made any recent changes on your device prior to your concern?

Start Button displaying but not working


The start button was working until there was a forced reboot (power failure). Then left click (normal click) over the start button does absolutely nothing. Right click brings up a menu but "programs" and also "settings" are missing and not included on this list. Search or Task View buttons do not work either with "normal" click. Does anyone have any suggestion or fixes?

My hello sign in stopped working.
