What can cause the fact the Sign-in options page to be blank? Recently installed Feature update to Windows 10, version 22H2, but I don't know this was blank immediately afterwards.

    :)

    Sign-In options is blank

Fixed this issue. Apparently there was an update ready to be installed. Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081436) Once I downloaded, installed, and restarted. I can access my Sign-In options window and it is not blank. Has all the
    options there.

    Sign-In Options Blank

For quite awhile now my Windows 10 Home HP laptop has had sign-in problems. When first booting the computer after it is turned off or rebooted, the sign-in screen hangs & takes about 20 minutes before it finally gives me the password box. Half the time,
that doesn't even happen & I have to go into recovery options and try the sign-in fix (which always fails) and then let it do a disc check, afterwards it finally lets me log in. This makes rebooting fast not possible, unless "fast" means 30 minutes to an hour
later. If it goes into sleep mode, it won't ever load the sign-in screen & I have to restart the machine.

Worse yet, I can not access the Sign-In Options. EVERY TIME I go to that page in options, I just get a blank screen, sometimes with the "thinking dots" and sometimes not. Either way, I can leave that screen open all day & it NEVER LOADS. So, I can not add
a pin or do anything else to change the way I sign in. Sub-sequentially, I can not tell the computer to not give me a password after sleep either, since that is changed in the Sign-In Options now instead of in the Battery Options.

Okay, I've tried creating a new user account & this error persists, so it's not an account error but a Windows error.

I've installed all the updates for my computer to date and nothing has changed after months & months with this problem.

Please DO NOT SUGGEST the nuclear option of reinstalling Windows. That is not a real option. That is the slacker tech option for technicians who don't really want to figure out what the problem is. I won't accept that answer but I might **** you out really
good for suggesting it, so just don't.

Also, tried the Sign-In troubleshooter several times & it doesn't find the error & doesn't fix anything, so that's not a viable solution either. Maybe your troubleshooter needs to be fixed?

And SFC /scannow also doesn't fix this problem, so don't bother suggesting it.

I've searched online & found quite a few other people have had this problem with Sign In errors but the above suggestions seem to be the only ideas Microsoft "techs" can come up with. Seems like what I need is a Microsoft programmer who was involved with
coding the Sign-In Options to help me. Maybe that person might actually have a clue.

Anyway, I don't really expect any of you to help me, seeing how "WELL" you haven't helped others with this same problem in the past. Most of those weary souls finally opt for the nuclear option & reinstall Windows, which of course "fixes" the problem.

But really, it doesn't fix it. It wipes it out. Blows it up. And puts a new system in its place. But it doesn't fix it. It doesn't answer the question to what was causing the problem in the first place.

And I realize every single laptop on Earth is basically as unique as every person that owns it based on the fact that we all have different programs and files but the basic Windows operating system should be mostly the same across the board, except for arbitrary
settings choices. That being said, such an error as this should be troubleshootable. There HAS to be an actual reason this is happening to some people & there HAS to be a real way to fix it besides blowing it up!

So, I'm throwing this bone out there for any hungry tech that feels up to the challenge...

I'd love to find a real answer besides the obvious failed ideas. Any of you ready to help?

    password sign in

    Hi,

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Go to Settings.
    • Click on Accounts.
    • Click on Sign in options.
    • On the right side, you will see required sign in.
    • Change it to Never.

Let us know how it goes.
