  1. Sign-in options: Require sign-in "When PC wakes up from sleep" missing

    Hello,

I recently migrated from Windows 7 and am trying to mimic the experience I had in regards to sleep/wake. The way I have my power options set up is for the display to turn off after 10 minutes, and for it never to sleep on its own. If I want it to sleep, I'll press the power button.

The current behavior is that Windows does not ask for a password ever, except for after restarting/shutting down. It does not ask for a password when the display is off and I press a key, or when the computer wakes from manually-induced sleep. See below for current state for requiring password:
    Shut down: Yes
    Restart: Yes
    Sleep Wake: No
    Display off: No

The desired behavior is for it to not ask for a password or display the logon screen when the display is off and I press a key, but to ask for it every time the computer wakes from manually-induced sleep. See below for desired state for requiring password:
    Shut down: Yes
    Restart: Yes
    Sleep Wake: YES
    Display off: No

I've read many articles on many websites stating that the solution is to to go to the Settings app, Sign-in options, Require sign-in, and set it to "When PC wakes up from sleep", but this option does not appear for me. Instead, I see the option "Never" and a bunch of time intervals. When I search for this problem on Google, all I get are the type of articles I just described, which do not answer my question.

    Things I have tried:
-Looking over power options in control panel. Does not mention asking for password
-Setting the "On resume, display logon screen" option in screensaver settings, but this comes packaged with a time interval, which I don't want.
-Checking under Lock screen settings, but this is under Personalization, so I didn't expect much, and didn't get much. There is no option there.
    -powercfg /SETACVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_NONE CONSOLELOCK 1 (and DC)

Before you ask, here is some other information:
-I am on Windows 10 Home, version 1909, build 18363.1016. This is a Lenovo Ideapad 5.
-It cannot be that the expected behavior happens on battery and not while plugged in, or vice versa, because all of my settings do not differentiate between the two states.
-I am not using a Microsoft account, I am using a local account with administrator privileges.
-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\Settings\AllowSignInOptions value is set to 1. The other sign-in options work as intended.

If you need any more information, do not hesitate to ask. My Windows 7 build did this out of the box (after setting power options) and it is frustrating to me that Windows 10 changed that.

    :)

As a test, try using step 4 in option 5 to disable require sign-in on wakeup may work for you.

  3. Sign-in options: Require sign-in "When PC wakes up from sleep" missing

    Hi Brink,

Thanks for welcoming me. I'm glad to be here.

I am indeed using a password on my account, not Windows Hello or anything else.
This is exactly the behavior I want. I went through the page you linked.

I tried option one, but "When PC wakes up from sleep" is not there, which is what I stated my original problem to be. It seems to be there for everyone else.

I tried option two as well, but "Change settings that are currently unavailable" does not show up in advanced power settings for me. My account is an administrator if that makes a difference.

I tried option three previously, as I mentioned in my last post.

Option four is not available as I am on Windows 10 Home, which I also mentioned.

I tried option five and it did not work as well. Upon waking from sleep, my desktop and any previously open programs pop up instead of the lock screen.

I'm not sure if your second suggestion would help since the current behavior already does not require sign-in after the display turning off.

Do you have any further suggestions? Thank you*Smile
