Windows 10: Sign-in required & Unable to Update

I've been having two issues, which I am posting under the same subject because they could be related. For a little context these are on a relatively new Dell have had it less than a year with Windows 10, and it is only in the past few months that these issues have surfaced.First of all is the issue of a "Sign-in required" pop-up that I receive at least daily, if not more. I'm attaching a screenshot of the pop-up below so that it is clear what I'm talking about. The problem is that I'm on a local account, and when setting up the system I never once logged in to or created a microsoft account.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Hi,

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Click on Sign in options.
• On the right side, you will see required sign in.
• Change it to Never.
