  2. Sign in failure

    Hello IanMcCaffery,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community and providing us with the detailed description about the issue.

As per the description, I understand that you are experiencing issue with sign in failure after creating a new user account in Windows 10.

I certainly understand your concern and will try my best to help you.

This issue can be caused due to pending updates or corrupted user account. Let’s try to identify the actual cause and troubleshoot accordingly.

I would suggest you to check the following settings and may sure they are all aligned to the same languages and region:

    • Go toSettings
      > Time & Language > Region & Language.

    • Check the Country or region settings.

    • Check the Windows display language
      (set as English US) settings.

    • Then go to Settings >
      System > Speech.

    • Check the Spoken language
      (set as English US) settings.
If the above settings are correct and the issue still persists, then you may
convert the Microsoft account to a Local account and switch back to Microsoft account
and check if it helps. To do so, follow the steps given below:

    Step 1:

Convert the Microsoft account to a Local account:

    • Sign in to your
Microsoft account on Windows 10 Insider Preview.

    • Click Start and then PC settings.

    • Click Users and accounts and under Your Profile click Disconnect on the right of the screen.

    • Enter your Microsoft account's password, and click on Next.

    • Type in a Username, Password, and Password Hint that you want set for your Local account and click
      Next.

    • Click on Sign out and Finish button.
    Step 2:

Switch back Local account to Microsoft account:

    • On the newly converted Local account, click Start and then PC Settings.

    • Click Users and accounts and under Your Profile click Connect to a Microsoft account.

    • Enter the Microsoft account ID and Password and click Next.

    • Choose if you want OneDrive as your default file saving location, click Next.

    • Click Switch.
The above steps holds good for Windows 10 as well.

Regarding the issue when you shut down your system it restarts,
I would suggest you to refer to the suggestions provided by
“Shahzaib S” replied on July 3, 2015 in the Microsoft Community link and check if that helps.

    Redirecting

    System restore failure windows 10

    Hi Jack,

I realize the inconvenience you are facing. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow the below given steps:

    • Press Windows key + X, select
Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.

    • In Command prompt type
      sfc /scannow
      and press enter.

    • Restart the computer.

If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:

    • Open command prompt by pressing
Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.

    • In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

      DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

      DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    • Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.
Keep us posted on Windows related queries and we will be happy to assist you further.
