Windows 10: Signing into my PC using the microsoft account instead

Hi,


I have a new computer and I tried to go to settings and select sign in with microsoft account instead. So I go through that and it accepts the password the first time then it asks me for my password again and I use the same one and it says its wrong. I tried changing it still doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong?

• Is this the only account on the computer?
• Was this account upgraded from previous version of Windows?

It looks like you are using a local account. I suggest you follow these steps:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
• Enter your Local account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the new Microsoft account and click OK.

I request you to convert the current Microsoft account to a local account and back to a Microsoft account. While converting back to a Microsoft account give your
new Microsoft login credentials.

Follow the steps below to convert Microsoft account to a local account:

• 
  Press Windows key and type
  settings and select it.
  
• Select Accounts and click on
  sign in with a local account instead, follow on screen instructions.

Do you get any error message? If yes, what is the exact error message?

Are you trying to convert the local account to Microsoft Account?



I would suggest you to test the issue by creating a new Microsoft Account and check if it works. To create a new user account, refer to these steps:

• In start menu search type “user” without quotes.
• Click on Add, edit, or remove other users from the list of results.
• Under Other users, click on Add someone else to this PC.
• Follow on screen instructions.
