    Ever since I have installed 20H2, the "save as" function in any programs on my machine takes a minute or two before it resolves, and during that minute the window is greyed out and shown as "not responding" before it finally kicks loose and lets me save the file.

    I've noticed that if you repeatedly open the "save as" explorer window after the initial time you do it, the window populates normally, but if you change window focus to another application, the issue will re-appear next time you Save As. This is happening in Microsoft applications like Outlook/Word, and all other third party applications over multiple computers that I have 20H2 installed on.

    Cannot rename folders in explorer, but, can at a save as dialog

    I get the error below, i have tried several of the above mentioned steps, minus the registry items. Always weary about mucking with the registry.

    Windows 10 Version 1607 (corporate PC not able to up to the latest)

    View settings for This PC in Save Dialogs

    You are correct about Save/SaveAs/Open being different from File explorer itself. All these dialogs are a separate Windows component called Common Item Dialogs.

    I have never had a problem getting mine to keep my changes so I suggest trying
    Reset Open and Save As Common Item Dialog Boxes - TenForumsTutorials
    and, if the problem is not solved, asking for guidance in that tutorial thread.

    Problem with Explorer and file dialogs

    I'm having a problem with File Explorer and with file dialogs. It is similar to some of those reported here but also there are differences in some respects.

    • Windows 10, up-to-date.
    • Problem began after the February "patch Tuesday" update.
    • Appears randomly--slightly less frequently since the March update, but still occurring. Sometimes when machine is first started.
    • Symptoms are that File Explorer windows sit indefinitely saying "Working on it", same applies to file dialogs too.
    • Also Google Chrome becomes very slow at loading web pages: > 5 minutes, but Edge is not affected.
    • Restarting Explorer does NOT work, but restarting the computer does--BUT restarting takes much longer than usual, again >= 5 minutes.
    Any suggestions? This computer came with Windows 10, so I cannot revert to an earlier version.

    I have to say that Windows 10 is by far the least reliable version I've encountered. Even free, it isn't good value!
