  1. Since May Feature update, cpu always hangs on restarts and explorer can be very slow

    Hi there,

Installed on 28.‎05.‎2020 the Win 10 feature update, no problems. Since then, two persistent problems have come up:

1 Each time I restart, the system hangs on the blue screen saying "restarting" this is *after* i tell it to ignore any programs still shutting down. ressing ctrl-alt-del does not do anything once it hangs, so I can't see what it's "hung on". I'm forced to manually hold the power button until it shuts off, then it starts up without a problem.

2 Now and then when I open up windows explorer to view my file system, it just takes forever to load certain folders more accurately it just keeps working, but never stops.

Both of these problems started after the update, and have persisted for a few weeks since, despite more recent updates.

I'm currently on OS version 10.0.19041 Build 19041, should be up-to-date.

    Lenovo 7470s, 64-bit Win 10 Education version

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

    :)

    Windows Explorer hang restart timeout

I have a slow PC, and sometimes, when it's busy, explorer hangs for a couple of seconds. If the hang takes long enough, explorer restarts automatically.

Is there a setting to disable this behavior, or to change the delay? A registry tweak perhaps?

    Windows Update suddenly hangs?

Windows Update is suddenly hanging for some reason... I went and downloaded and installed the first bunch of updates, restarted when asked, and now when I go back to windows update I just get the window with a white box forever. Reboot and it still does it. This happens to be on my main machine, running windows 7.

I've also noticed when I reboot it says configuring windows update, step 3 of 3, 47%. Maybe it somehow skipped something and is screwed forever?

    Hi,

To assist you, kindly provide us additional information.

    • What update did you install?

We suggest you to disable Internet Explorer from optional features and enable it again. To do so, follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows + R on your keyboard, type optionalfeatures
      and hit OK.
    • Uncheck the checkbox with Internet Explorer 11 written against the box and restart your computer.
    • After restart, check the box in optionalfeatures and restart again. Then, launch IE.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks.
