  1. Since reinstallation of Win10 I have no access to my NAS or some file locations

I recently decided to do a fresh install of Win10 Pro on the main PC which went ahead without to many problems, however I now have what I can only describe as a permissions problem. originally, I signed in as administrator using a Hotmail account but as I now have an Office 365 account, I decided that this was the opportunity to use that outlook account as the administrator for the PC which is what I also use on my Win11 Pro laptop. Since doing the fresh install I’ve got 2 major problems which I assume are connected in some way, as 1 I’m unable to download most files from the net 2 I’m una

  2. Add a NAS location to Windows 10 Index

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the concern as you would like to add the NAS location to Windows 10 Indexing feature.

In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check.

    1. Press Windows + E key to open File Explorer
    2. Click on This PC from the left pane of File Explorer.
    3. Then on the right pane, expand the Network locations.
    4. Right click in the Network locations and select
Add a network location from the context menu.
    5. Click Next on Add Network Location wizard.
    6. Follow the onscreen steps
    7. On the completing the Add Network Location
      screen, click Finish.
    8. The new network location will now open in File Explorer.
    9. Open the Control Panel, click on the
Indexing Options icon, and close the Control Panel.
    10. Click on the Modify button.
    11. Check (add) or
      uncheck (remove)
the locations you want to be indexed, and click on
      OK
      when finished

However, for issues related to NAS drive, let me help to point you in the right direction. I would suggest you to post your query in
    TechNet
    Forums
where you will find professionals with expertise on NAS for Windows 10 and that would be the appropriate forum.

File History Interferes with networked NAS file access

When I have Win10 File History backup turned on I can no longer listen to music or other media located on my NAS without interuptions. Access to the NAS directories and files slow down dramatically. This began sometime in the last couple months, presumably
after one of the Win10 updates. The File History backups reside on my NAS, as do my media files. This is a ReadyNAS from Netgear. It has run well for years, including with File History in earlier Win10 versions as well as Win8. If I turn off the File History
it will after several minutes resume normal operation. Turn File History back on and again it bogs down.

  4. Since reinstallation of Win10 I have no access to my NAS or some file locations

    Network attached storage (NAS)

OKAY... I get the laptop thru all the updates by using the troubleshooter. Now I still cannot see my NAS in file explorer BUT there is one file listed in quick access that is on the NAS. If I open file location I can see everything on the NAS (WOOHOO)
but if I close file explorer and reopen it the NAS does not appear(?).

I am sure there is a small tweak that needs to be made but at least if I don't loose the quick access I will be able to access my files.

    One step forward!!!!

    Thanks,

    Len

p.s. still working on the desktop Since reinstallation of Win10 I have no access to my NAS or some file locations :(
