So, I didnt updated my PC for like a week or so, yesterday morning I updated it. Then when I started it up. I couldn't use my mobile hotspot?Context: I use my mobile hotspot on my desktop with a Wifi enabled motherboard because I have ethernet into my flat, but the router from the main building has bad signal so I use my desktop as an extender of sorts by turning on mobile hotspot. Since the windows update, if I turn ON my hotspot on my desktop, I can no longer access the internet on my computer itself, but on my phone the hotspot has internet access. Windows XP update and internet Issue

Microsoft has been shutting down some of their XP update server to prepare for the end of life of XP. That means that if your ISPs DNS servers are slow at updating then you will be trying to use servers that no longer exist.

I suggest you download the latest XP roll-up disc, it will have most of the updates you need and I also suggest hard coding a Google DNS as your primary DNS in your router.

 

access BIOS settings in Win 10

I have an 8-year old computer running Win 10. I need to access the BIOS settings. It used to be the holding down the F2 key during startup would bring up the BIOS screen in Windows computers. But this no longer works. A web article listed a complicated
series of steps leading to a reboot . . . but still no access to BIOS. Any suggestions?

From the description provided, I understand that you are not able to work on the Environment Variables in Windows 10 after the latest update to build 10586.3.

The path to access the Environment variables in Windows would be:

Control panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced -> Environment variables.

However, if the above is still in place, but however, you still face functionality issue, I would suggest you to rollback to the previous build and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• Click on Start and select Settings and then choose Update & security.
• Then click on ‘Recovery Options’.
