Windows 10: Since upgrading to 11, there's a brown box icon over most not all of my DropBox files. And...

I upgraded to Windows 11 and all of a sudden I find a brown box icon over many but not all of my DropBox files. For docs created after mid June 2021, the box is there but seems to make no difference in terms of using those files. But when I try to open docs created/edited before that date I get various error messages and they won't open. Examples:There are no brown box icons over my OneDrive or hard drive files and I can open all files regardless of when they were created.If I go to the DropBox website, I can open any file, even those that can't be opened from Windows Explorer where I get

Unable to open Dropbox file sent to me

I received a file in my yahoo.ca email box. The file shows that it is shared by Dropbox. When I click the button to open the file, my Gmail account shows up. Why does my Dropbox did not open to receive this file?

I downloaded the file, but none of the application listed by Microsoft allows me to open the file.

Any suggestions?

Have you taken a look at the help file from Dropbox itself: Uninstall Dropbox - Dropbox Help - Dropbox It says if the software came pre-installed on your PC extra removal steps "may" be needed, and explains how to take them. Check it out!

Deleting Dropbox

• Are you referring to Dropbox icon/ application on Windows 10?

If you are referring to Dropbox app on your device, try the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: If the Dropbox is preloaded on your desktop:

• Click Start.
• Click Settings.
• Click System.
• Click Apps & features.
• Select Get Dropbox or Dropbox X GB from the application list, where "X" is the amount of space corresponding to your promotion.
• Click Uninstall.

Step 2: If the Dropbox is a desktop app follow:

• Press Windows + X, click on Control Panel.
• Under Programs, select Uninstall a program.
• Select Dropboxfrom the list of programs, and click Uninstall.
