    Single WiFi Solution Thread?

It seems like a lot of people, I'm having trouble with this wifi connection problem, and I too am slowly going mad re the solution. There are so many threads around now it is difficult to know where to go. Is is possible to have a single thread on this issue? I appreciate the specific problem is not the same for everyone, 'No internet access', 'Missing protocols' etc but there seems to be a common(s) problem re the updates and builds. I assume there is a master thread, or whatever, somewhere driving Microsoft to fix this.

    :)

  3. client single sign-on solution?

Nothing that I'm aware of but it would be nice. The closest thing I can see to this is using a digital wallet but there's no integration with other apps on the device.

I don't think there is a master thread for this topic. What is the nature of the problem you are having.

    There are alternatives to Wifi.

Your System Specs show a Desktop but don't mention if it also has a Wireless adapter in addition to the built-in [usually] Ethernet adapter. I haven't seen many Desktops that have Wi-Fi included, usually an option. If it does have the adapter it may be necessary to reinstall the drivers for it, have seen that process fix the problem.

Apologies - I've just put win10 on a laptop for my son (Dell Vostro 2520). All is fine in that it is activated and works well (including internet access when connected via an ethernet cable). The problem comes with wifi - it says it is connected to my router but there is no internet connectivity. I can ping the router but not outside - I know the router is OK because of other laptops I have. I have been getting all the symptoms I read about on the web re win10 and wifi connectivity. I have tried most of them I can find (renewing tcp/ip setting to registry edits) - I have even done two rebuilds.I stumbled across a thread on this site (One or more network protocols are missing, solution) where the advice was the enter netsh int ipv4 install and that did the trick - it worked. Trouble is this morning I switched on the laptop and was back to square one again - no internet access, after several shuts down and restarts. I have tried everything in that thread - and other threads. At the moment it is working(?) so why is it working now but not this morning. #19 on that thread says he is going back to win7 until this issue is resolved. I may have answered my question in that hopefully this thread will come up with the answer but there are other threads on this site questioning the same issue. Is there any benefit in having a master thread where the solution will be update/sorted for all users with this problem? Thanks.

  7. Well there is one common problem with wifi, it is called Windows 10, it is hard to fix, on 10 anyway. *sarc
Not sure, which "features" cause it, but the simplest solution is to disable everything and keep it simple.
Like uninstall all network protocols, disable wifi/updates sharing, disable DHCP/DNS/NetBIOS/sharing, etc.
I put together some basic bat file to reset a few settings, you might give a try, if you run into trouble again.

    Single WiFi Solution Thread?

I have never had any issues with WiFi on any of my machines that were running 10, until two of them got swapped over to Linux Mint.

The Wifi channels play a huge part on how good of quality connection your computer gets.

    I use Channels 1&5 on my main Wireless-N A/P, which is a Engenius ECB-350.

The majority of people having problems, is that either their network adapters are not compatible with the Windows 10. Or their signal quality is not that great.

TairikuOkami - thank you for you script. I ran it but still have my 'no internet' issue. The script out put is attached - it shows C:\Windows\system32>netsh int ip reset
    Resetting , failed.
    Access is denied.

could this be one of my problems?

quarkrad at bleepingcomputer.com. There are a couple of tools in their download area under the name "Farbar". Two of them work for Network isses.

Without seeing the output from netsh wlan show all, knowing what model and mfg of your Wireless Gateway is, which form of Wireless it is set on (B,G,N,AC), what channels you have the A/P set on, if it is set for 20/40 mixed mode or just 40, there is no way to tell you what is wrong.

The majority of wireless problems is channel interference as I stated before.

  12. Some people sugest problem with AV interfiering or they solved it by using SFC Command.

Other suggestion is taking ownership of reg key:

Good idea by quarkrad to have a consolidated thread.

Not quite that simple. There also have been issues with ethernet connections when other systems running another OS do not have problems.

I posted the above in a separate thread. As I recall, there were no or extremely few networking/limited internet issues with previous Windows upgrades. (Win7, Win8). Bottom line, Win10 has networking/limited internet issues as Tairiku states below.

torre actually solving Network adapter problems are easy. As for the Windows 10 problem. 99.99% of them are related to 3rd party Internet Security and outdated Chipsets. The last would be the machine was infected before the upgrade happened. But the user kept ignoring the problems.

I have never had any issues with thr two laptops that ran Windows 10 for a short period, along with a Dell Inspiron 537s Desktop.

People are making the little hiccups they run into, as if it is the end of the world.

The Farbar tools will fix Network adapter issues, as long as your machine is not infected with Malware.
