  1. Skipping duplicates when copying file to OneDrive

Hello team,I'm trying to sync some files through multiple OneDrive family accounts.I upload hundreds and even thousands of files from my PC to my wife's OneDrive account. The problem is that I lost an internet connection before uploading all the files, and now I can't figure out how to skip the duplicates. The only option is to delete and upload them again, on chunks to avoid a similar situation, which is annoying and time-consuming, given that the total file size is 150GB.Windows has this amazing option to Skip the duplicates which I have used for years and is super useful in such cases. Is it

  2. Skipping duplicates when copying file to OneDrive

    Hello,

I have purchased an ongoing OneDrive account so that I can store photos in the cloud. I have A LOT of photos. A given assignment can produce several thousand.

Yesterday I uploaded a folder that contained 4,500 files from my internal hard drive to my OneDrive account. I temporarily lost my connection and my upload was interrupted after about 2,800 files. Were the copying (uploading) to be interrupted while I was
copying this folder from, say, my internal hard drive to my external hard drive I would simply open up the folder on my internal drive, copy all the files, open up the folder on my external drive, and paste them. At that point, a notification would come up
asking me what I want to do with the 2,800 files that I had already copied/uploaded. I would say "skip them" and only the files that had not been uploaded/copied would copy from the internal to the external drive.

However, this "skip them" option does not seem to be available with OneDrive. I have to either delete the folder in one drive and upload the entire folder again OR try to figure out which files have already been uploaded.

So my question is: how can I skip duplicate files while uploading from my internal hard drive to OneDrive?

    Thanks!

  3. Duplicate File Copies in OneDrive

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for responding. I have already tried this. What happens is that many times other files that do not have the "- copy" in their names come up as well. I do not understand why these other files are included as the word "copy" does not seem to be in their
titles at all. But, obviously, I can't just delete the whole list when this happens.

I'm wanting to get rid of all the duplicate files, both on my computer and on OneDrive.

Is there a way to merge the files or not resync with the duplicated files('-copy')?

    Hello Help123FW

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have an issue merging duplicate files in OneDrive. Let’s work together in finding the best resolution to this issue.

To merge duplicate files or avoid resyncing with the duplicated files in OneDrive, you can follow these steps:

    • Click the OneDrive icon in the notification corner on your desktop.
    • Click the Settings icon (the gear), and then select Settings from the drop-down.
    • Click on the Office tab.
    • Go to Sync conflicts.
    • Tick the radio button for “Let me choose to merge changes or keep both copies”.
    • Click OK to save the changes.

If a file is duplicated in your OneDrive with your computer name added to the filename, it could be time to refresh your credentials. Here’s how you can do that:

    • For Windows:
      1. Select Start, type “credentials,” and then select Credentials Manager.
      2. Select the Windows Credentials tab.
      3. Under Generic Credentials, look for any entries containing “OneDrive Cached Credentials” and remove them.
      4. Restart OneDrive.

If these workarounds don’t resolve the issue, please uninstall and reinstall OneDrive. Note: You won’t lose files or data by disabling or uninstalling OneDrive on your computer.

We look forward to your next response.

    Regards,
