[Long Question] Luminar Neo, revered AI Photoediting tool, causes my computer to unexpectedly shut down after recent updates. What could I do to find out the problem and report it to them ?

Hello Ramtin, thank you for your inquiry. My name is Shantal I'm an independent advisor, I am happy to help.

I understand that you're facing unexpected shutdown issues on your PC after updating Luminar Neo, a photo editing tool. I'm here to help you troubleshoot the problem and provide guidance on how to report it to Skylum's development team.

Based on the information you've provided, it seems like the issue is specific to Luminar Neo, as other applications and games are not causing your PC to crash. You've already shared event logs and details with Skylum's support team, which is a great step. However, there are some additional steps you can take to assist in debugging the issue:

    1. **Run Hardware Diagnostic Tests**: Use built-in tools or third-party software to run diagnostic tests on your hardware components to check for any issues that might be contributing to the problem.

    2. **Check System Temperatures**: Monitor your system's temperatures while running Luminar Neo to ensure that overheating is not causing the unexpected shutdowns.

    3. **Check Power Settings**: Confirm that your power settings are optimized for performance by selecting the "High Performance" plan in the "Power Options" of your Control Panel.

    4. **Check for Software Conflicts**: Identify any other programs or background processes that might be conflicting with Luminar Neo. Try closing unnecessary applications while using Luminar to see if the issue persists.

    5. **Update Software and Drivers**: Make sure your operating system, drivers, and other software are up to date to address compatibility issues.

    6. **Disable Overclocking**: If you have overclocked your CPU or GPU, try reverting to the default clock speeds to see if the issue is related to overclocking.

    7. **Check for Windows Updates**: Ensure that your Windows 10 is up to date with the latest updates, as they might address compatibility issues.

    8. **Create a New User Profile**: Create a new user profile on your computer and try running Luminar Neo from there. This will help identify if the issue is related to your specific user account.

    9. **Run Luminar Neo in Safe Mode**: Boot your computer into Safe Mode and see if the issue still occurs when running Luminar Neo. This will help determine if the problem is caused by third-party software or drivers.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, I recommend continuing to work with Skylum's support team and providing any additional information they request. Your detailed logs and descriptions will be valuable for their investigation.

As for the assumption about power surges, it's possible that Luminar Neo could be demanding more power from your system than other applications, leading to the unexpected shutdowns. However, further analysis and testing are needed to confirm this as the definitive cause.

I hope this information is of use.

    Kind regards,

    Shantal.

Luminar Neo asks for 2015 - 2022 C++ Distribution and then does not Launch

I downloaded the latest version of Skylum Luminar Neo software and am unable to launch the app. Double click gets me a popup that asks if I want the app to make changes to C++ 2015 - 2022 distribution. Click Yes and the app will not launch. I can watch the app launch in task manager but it only appears for a second or two and then the process goes away.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
