  1. Skype for Business keep turning off the speakers

    Hi,

I am with IMIT support in a health organization. We have always used Skype for Business for texting, sharing screens and sharing files. Our core tech team configured Skype Meetings not too long ago, as now because of pandemic there are a lot of users using Skype Meetings. We have been receiving a lot of complaints about laptop speakers not working and saying "The device is being used by another application. Please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and then try again". I have tried all the steps in the the resource here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4520288/windows-10-fix-sound-problems.

We have even tried installing the drivers from laptop's manufacturer according to their models but besides all these, the issue comes back. We highly believe the issue is related to the Skype Meetings as those users which are effected, they started joining the meetings recently.

    The machines we use are:
    Make: Dell

    Model: XPS 13 9360 and 9380

    OS: Win 10

Let us know if there is any other information if is needed. I am unable to replicate the issue myself but trying to get hold of users currently effected and can get the logs if needed.

    Thanks,

    Gurveer

    :)

Skype for Business' access to camera

    Thanks, it worked!

For anyone else having the same problem:
When activating the aforementioned setting you should restart Skype for Business completely. Mine Skype for Business still did not get listed in the lower list, but the camera is now activated.

Skype for business stuck at splash screen on startup

Just a suggestion... Do you have Microsoft Office installed? If you do Skype for Business is listed under your Microsoft Office folder in your start folder/ All apps. (that's where mine is listed) Right click on it, then choose Uninstall .

You Can install the regular Skype even if Skype for Business is installed.....I have both installed.

Skype for Business keep turning off the speakers

Skype for Business' access to camera

    Hi,

I have a new Huawei Matebook D14 with Windows 10 operating system. I have installed the Office-package and Skype for Business. In Windows' camera settings I can not activate the camera for Skype for Business, because Skype for Business is not listed as an alternative as an application to activate/deactivate. When I go to Skype for Business internal settings I get a message that says

"We can not find a camera: If you already have one, open device management in Windows to control that it is installed and working" (my own translation from Norwegian to English).

I have tried those basic tips and tricks. I have also tried to repair and reinstall Skype for Business.

The basic Skype-version is also installed and is listed in the list of applications that can have the camera acitvated/deactivated. The camera works with the basic Skype-version itself.

The problem seems to be that I do not have Skype for Business as an option inside Windows' settings for activating/deactivating the camera. Does anybody have a solution?
