Windows 10: skype loads but is not installed

Upon restart, the skype application loads every time I restart the machine.I am using a MS Windows Surface BOok Pro Windows 10.I would like to uninstall skype but it does not show up in the apps or in the uninstall section.Thanks for any thoughts on this

skype doesn't closing even after clicking "Quit skype"

I suggest you to uninstall and re-install the latest version of Skype on your device and check.

Method 1: Remove the earlier versions of the Skype and then install the latest version.

Step 1: Uninstall Skype from the Start Screen:

• 
  On the Start screen, type
  Skype.
  
• 
  From the list select Skype and right click on it.
  
• 
  You will get different options on the screen .Select
  Uninstall.
  

Step 2: You can also uninstall a program from the Control Panel:

• 
  Press Windows + x key to open a task list from the bottom left corner of the screen.
  
• 
  Select Control Panel. Click on
  Programs.
  
• 
  Select Programs and Features.
  
• 
  Double click on Skype and follow the onscreen instructions.

Please answer the following questions so that we can help you.

  What settings do you have for your microphone in Tools -> Options -> Audio settings?
  
• 
  What do you see in the dropdown box for your microphone? Are there more than one option?
  
• 
  Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall Skype?
  

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps.

Method 1

Step 1: Check configuration in Skype

Normally, you will receive the message about recording device error, if the microphone or the webcam is not configured properly in Skype. To check configuration:

• 
  Open Skype and navigate to tools.
  
• 
  Click options and check for sound device.
  

Step 2:

Verify in the recording tab if the Microphone is enabled and working. To check:

• 
  Click Start, click Control Panel.
  
  
• 
  Click Sound and click Audio.
  

Method 2: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

I suggest you to run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter. Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

• 
  Press the ‘Windows + X key on the keyboard and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select View all on the top left corner.
  
• 
  Click Hardware and Devices.
  
• 
  Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.
  

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset drivers.

Method 3: Run Recording Audio Troubleshooter

I suggest you to run Recording Audio Troubleshooter. Follow these steps to run Recording Audio Troubleshooter:

• Press the ‘Windows + X key on the keyboard and click on
  Control Panel.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• 
  Select View all on the top left corner.
  
• 
  Click Recording Audio.
  
• 
  Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Skype?

As this is a now quite established messenger system of sorts perhaps a Skype feature for people skype names so perhaps some real time problem solving/discussions could be mounted?
Just a wee suggestion.
