Windows 10: Skype Preview evolves in the latest version of Windows 10

Since its launch in 2003, Skype has been powered by the latest technology to bring people together in new ways, enabling over three billion minutes of Skype calls every day, across multiple platforms and devices from mobile to desktop. Wow!

You’ll remember the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, last August, which included an all-new version of the app: Skype Preview. It was built from the ground up to take advantage of the Universal Windows Platform, and marked the first time Skype was a fully integrated part of the Windows operating system.

Today, with the launch of the Windows 10 Creators Update, Skype is graduating from Preview mode for all of its users. In other words, Skype for Windows 10 is ready for everyday use, complete with new and improved features. You’ll find it listed as “Skype” within the latest version of Windows, with new features including:

Mini view – As promised, this new update offers mini view. Now you can view video from a Skype call while multitasking, such as planning a vacation with your friend by browsing the web. Just switch to another app while on a call, and Skype minimizes to a small window with video and call controls.

Messaging – Search through chat conversations, with full keyboard shortcut support at your fingertips, and send SMS messages with a little Skype Credit.

Improved group video call – The redesigned view brings everyone even closer together.

This all comes in addition to previous features you know and love, like the ability to share screens, photos, videos, documents, and files (up to 300MB). Mojis and emoticons will continue to let you express yourself in all sorts of fun ways. The app also includes exclusive features for Windows 10 users such as SMS relay for Windows Mobile and Skype Translator for calls to mobiles and landlines. And it’s all free, no matter what device your friends, family, and coworkers use Skype on. Even language isn’t a barrier anymore, with ten languages available in Skype Translator, including our most recent Japanese release, and the ability to call mobiles and landlines using Skype Translator on your desktop.

Bluetooth Headset won't work

Same problem with Jabra Evolve 65 running on a Surface Pro 4 i7. Have all latest drivers and updates with Windows 10. Since installing the headset Skype crashes every time.

Skype video call not working on windows phone 10

i have the latest version of skype and windows 10 os build. i can make normal call on skype but can't make video call and can't sent video messages. video in the settings shows all ok, there are no issues using the camera on other apps, only on Skype
preview.
